Job Summary

Watson Candidate Assistant is here to answer questions about working at Dallas ISD.

Utilize evidence based practice to assist new campus nurses as they transition to independent school nursing practice. Teach support and serve as a role model for new staff nurses to enhance the delivery of health services provided to students improve student achievement and support the work of campuses.
Explain demonstrate and guide new staff to independently perform essential nursing objectives and tasks as outlined in the School Nurse Clinical Development Program department procedures and board policy.
Guide the performance and professional growth of new staff by mentoring best practices serving as a role model providing leadership and demonstrating a commitment to excellence.
Utilize clinical competency skill checklist to communicate expectations regarding performance policy and department procedures.
Complete and submit visit documentation to provide job specific feedback and identify any areas of improvement.
Support the work of campuses to provide health services in the absence of the assigned nurse.
Serve as a certified instructor for CPR/AED courses and Texas Department of State Health Services certified trainer in vision and hearing screening.
Performs all other tasks and duties as assigned.

Required: Bachelors Degree from an accredited university in Nursing (Bachelors of Science in Nursing (BSN); current license to practice nursing in the State of Texas as a Registered Nurse; current certification in Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation/AED; Texas Department of State and Health certification in vision and hearing (recertification as required); certified as The Border Health Office University of Texas-Pan American Texas Risk Assessment for Type 2 Diabetes in Children screener
Preferred: Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) or related field; National School Nurse Certification (NCSN)
Required 3-5 years directly related school nursing experience; preferred 2 years direct pediatric nursing or community health
Knowledge of nurse practice act clinical skills department procedures and related district policy
Ability to build and establish relationships with internal team members and external departments
Ability to effectively communicate both verbally and in writing
Ability to effectively work in a team environment
Ability to use a computer and other programs such as Microsoft Office and electronic health records
