Senior Infrastructure Technician

Location: Remote (with monthly team meetups)
Salary: 50000 - 55000 per annum
Working Pattern: Monday - Friday
Hours: 37.5 per week
Reports to: Head of IT

About the Role

Were seeking a Senior Infrastructure Technician to join our small collaborative IT team during an exciting period of growth and transformation. This is a newly created permanent position working remotely with the team coming together once a month. Occasional visits to our datacentre may be required though these are infrequent.

In this role youll be instrumental in our ongoing migration to Azure while maintaining our on-premises infrastructure. Youll work as part of a close-knit team reporting to the Head of IT.

What Youll Be Doing

Youll play a key role in our three-year Azure transformation project while ensuring our existing on-premises systems continue to run smoothly. Day-to-day youll be working with Microsoft technologies including Windows Server Active Directory and Group Policy using PowerShell extensively for automation scripting.

Your responsibilities will include supporting our Cisco network infrastructure and Meraki Wi-Fi systems leading incident response and conducting root cause analysis when issues arise. Youll oversee patching backup disaster recovery and business continuity protocols while collaborating on digital transformation initiatives and system upgrades.

What Were Looking For

Essential:

• Proven experience in infrastructure support or systems administration (5 years)
• Strong Azure experience - this is critical for the role
• Excellent PowerShell skills for automation and scripting
• Solid all-round infrastructure and networking knowledge
• Experience with Windows Server Active Directory and Group Policy
• Understanding of networking protocols routing switching and DNS/DHCP
• Azure certifications (Microsoft Certified: Azure Administrator Associate and Azure Fundamentals are highly valued)

Nice to Have:

• Linux experience
• CompTIA Network / Security
• ITIL Foundation / Practitioner

The Process

Important: This role requires a DBS check and eligibility for SC clearance (either now or within the next 12 months) as were beginning to work with government organisations.

Interview Process:

1. First stage: Informal chat with the Head of IT
2. Second stage: Technical interview with the Head of IT and the wider team joined by our CEO who will discuss your Azure and PowerShell experience in depth

Probation Period: 6 months
