The Job
CNN Newsource is building the next-generation platform that powers how partner newsrooms access publish and distribute CNN content. This platform is being redesigned to be modern cloud-native and intuitive for newsroom workflows.
As a Senior Software Engineer you will work across the stack to develop fast secure and scalable applications at the center of CNNs affiliate distribution ecosystem. You will collaborate closely with designers product partners editorial teams and engineering peers to deliver features that support daily journalism and global content operations.
The Daily
You will develop platform features in build user-facing interfaces in React or and design backend services deployed on AWS. You will contribute to architecture reviews write maintainable code and help integrate with internal content platforms authentication systems and media pipelines.
Your work will span prototyping production implementation performance tuning and ongoing platform improvements. You will support CI/CD workflows participate in incident response when necessary and work closely with cross-functional partners to ensure the platform remains fast reliable and easy to use for partner newsrooms.
The Essentials
- 5 years of software engineering experience
- Strong experience with and modern JavaScript/TypeScript
- Experience building applications with React or
- Hands-on experience with AWS services (Lambda ECS/EKS S3 CloudFront API Gateway)
- Strong understanding of data structures algorithms and modern engineering practices
- Experience with Postgres and caching technologies such as Redis or DynamoDB
- Ability to break down complex initiatives into well-defined engineering work
- Strong cross-team communication and collaboration skills
- Regular use of AI development tools (Cursor Codex Claude etc.) to improve velocity and code quality
- Commitment to code quality testing performance and reliability
The Nice to Haves
- Experience building newsroom tools CMS systems or media workflows
- Familiarity with CDNs or edge compute platforms
- Experience with content ingestion video workflows or internal publishing systems
- Experience with A/B testing analytics or experimentation tooling
- Infrastructure-as-code experience (Terraform CloudFormation)
- Contributions to open-source or internal developer tooling
- Experience mentoring onboarding or supporting other engineers

Actual salaries will vary based on several factors including but not limited to external market data internal equity location skill set experience and/or performance. Base pay is just one component of Warner Bros. Discoverys total compensation package for employees. Pay Range: $111300.00 - $178100.00 salary per year. Other rewards may include annual bonuses short- and long-term incentives and program-specific addition Warner Bros.
