Scope of Work
The Administrative Manager is responsible for both graduate and undergraduate nursing student placements in Corewell Health East. This position requires a strong ability to build relationships between our partner schools and our sites. The Administrative Manager is responsible for onboarding offboarding and managing nursing students orienting faculty and recruiting preceptors for some placements. The Administrative Manager is an experienced leader responsible for managing assigned areas and services and supervising assigned patient care staff to promote the creation of a center of excellence for staff recruitment and retention and clinical and business outcomes. The Administrative Manager is responsible to ensure safe and effective delivery of patient care and clinical outcomes compliance with regulatory administrative and clinical standards policies and procedures. The Administrative Manager serves as a chief retention and safety officer and ensures that safety and quality standards are upheld or met by effective use of data and technology to make decisions and proactively mitigates unnecessary risks for his/her area of responsibility. The Administrative Manager creates and ensures a desirable safe work environment that enables the organization to meet or exceed its mission and goals. This leader models the way to foster communication and collaboration with physicians staff patients and other departments. Role specific competencies responsibilities roles and functions are based on the Professional Practice Model. This position reports to the Director of Nursing or above.
AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY:
The administrative manager is the front-line leader with 24-hour accountability in the administration of multiple nursing services. Demonstrates the ability to plan organize influence and control activities pertaining to patients personnel and the environment. Promotes a Patient Family Centered Care Culture.
Essential Functions
Promote nursing leadership as both a science and an art. Utilizing foundational thinking skills in development of unit goals and objectives that are consistent with the organization goals.
Provides visionary thinking on issues that impact the patient care experience and delivery. Critically assesses and analyzes unit issues and processes while serving as a change agent as necessary.
Assists others in understanding the necessity and process of change and supporting staff during change.
Provides leadership in building loyalty and commitment throughout the organization.
Promotes systems thinking as a value in the nursing organization.
Manage and maintain financial resources including unit department budgets for both labor and supply budget. Analyzes and addresses financial statements for area of responsibility.
Educates assistant nurse managers and patient care team members on financial implications of patient care staffing and decisions.
Works collaboratively with Nursing Recruitment to select top talent and ensure that unit needs are met with appropriate skill sets. Actively works on nursing retention strategies.
Upholds professional standards of care by demonstrating leadership skills and a high level of clinical competency while striving to achieve the system Mission and Vision.
Participates in activities that promote good will and/or exposure in the community.
Qualifications
Bachelors Degree in Nursing. Required
Masters Degree. Preferred
3 years of relevant experience of nursing experience. Required
5 years of relevant experience of leadership experience. Preferred
LIC-Registered Nurse (RN) - State of Michigan Upon Hire required
CRT-Specialty Certification - within 1 Year required
