As a member of the Student Disability and Accessibility Team looking primarily after Higher Degree Research (HDR) students you will:
- Facilitate the inclusion of students with disabilities in their programs and the broader University community by negotiating reasonable adjustments and coordinating the provision of support services to these students across all Griffith campuses including students studying through Griffiths Digital Campus.
- Oversight in the recruitment of participation assistants for students with disabilities as required and will be responsible for supervising these staff.
- Some service delivery and movement between campuses may be required.
Students with disabilities includes those living with any physical neurological sensory intellectual learning disability or mental health issues. It also includes any long or short term medical condition (e.g. cancer broken bones).
About you
It is essential you can demonstrate that you have substantial experience in working with people with disabilities.
In addition to be successful in this position and to enjoy the rewarding nature of the role it is important you have highly developed skills in the following areas:
- Communication and interpersonal skills with a high level of self-assurance. You will need to clearly articulate your ideas and instructions and enjoy working with on-going situations.
- Active Listening skills to understand and address student concerns effectively.
- Emotional Intelligence using empathy to understand and relate to students emotions and challenges whilst maintaining professional boundaries and providing support.
- Ability to handle high-pressure situations calmly and respond effectively.
- Good time management and organisation skills enabling you to prioritize tasks efficiently to manage workload.
- Strong administrative skills with good attention to detail to ensure accuracy in administrative process
- Strong problem-solving skills with critical thinking enabling you to analyse situations and develop effective solutions whilst adapting and adjusting to changing circumstances and processes.
What we offer
This is a full-time fixed-term (2 year) position and will be primarily based at the Griffith University Nathan campus. As Griffith is a multi-campus University you may be required to work across other campus locations.
Salary Range
The full-time equivalent base salary will be HEW Level 7 range $101068 - $109496 per annum 17% superannuation. The total FTE package will be in the range $118249 - $128110 per annum.
Qualifications :
Tertiary qualifications in a relevant field (e.g. special education education human services occupational therapy) with work experience with people with disabilities.
