Position Title: LTS Primary Classroom Teacher (Grade 2)
Start Date: Immediately
Position Summary:
The Long-Term Substitute Teacher for Grade 2 is responsible for providing high-quality instruction and maintaining a positive structured classroom environment in the absence of the regular classroom teacher. The long-term substitute will implement established lesson plans follow district curriculum and support the academic social and emotional development of all students.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Implement daily lesson plans aligned with district curriculum and Massachusetts Curriculum Frameworks.
- Deliver instruction in core academic areas including literacy and mathematics.
- Establish and maintain a safe respectful and well-managed classroom environment.
- Use effective classroom management strategies consistent with school expectations.
- Assess student learning through assignments observations and formative assessments.
- Provide feedback to students to support academic growth.
- Differentiate instruction to meet the diverse needs of learners including students with IEPs 504 plans and English Learners in collaboration with support staff.
- Communicate professionally with families colleagues and administrators as needed.
- Maintain accurate records including attendance and student work.
- Participate in staff meetings professional development and school activities as appropriate.
- Collaborate with grade-level colleagues and specialists to support student learning.
Qualifications:
- Massachusetts DESE licensure preferred (Elementary Education Grades 1-6 or Early Childhood Grades PK-2)).
- Bachelors degree required.
- Experience teaching at the elementary level preferred.
- Strong classroom management and organizational skills.
- Ability to follow established plans while adapting instruction as needed.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Work Environment:
- Elementary school classroom setting.
- Requires standing walking and engaging actively with students throughout the school day.
Length of Assignment:
This is a long-term substitute position for a defined period with dates determined by the needs of the school.
