Essential Duties and Responsibilities
The Jockeys Room Custodian is responsible for assisting the Clerk of Scales in all responsibilities and attending to Jockeys at Horseshoe Indianapolis by performing the following duties:
Ensures that Jockeys scheduled to ride are dressed in riding equipment that meets IHRC specifications.
Inspects Jockeys for specified colors silks saddle towels arm numbers and additional riding equipment.
Maintains order cleans Jockeys Room dressings and riding equipment.
Examines weighted pads to make certain they are in good condition.
Weighs Jockeys in at the Winners Circle.
Assists when the Stewards need to speak with a Jockey in the Winners Circle.
Qualifications
A High School Diploma and College experience required.
At least 3-5 years of experience in racetrack industry at a management level.
Excellent verbal mathematics interpersonal communication and writing skills.
Ability to troubleshoot problems offer recommendations decision making ability to make quick accurate decisions independently.
Extensive equine knowledge types of racing and all racing industry requirements.
Must be at least 21 years of age or older and be able to obtain an Indiana Horse Racing Commission License.

Horseshoe Indianapolis is a smoking establishment therefore must be able to work in a smoking environment. Must be able to work in a highly populated fast-paced and noisy environment. Must be able to work in an environment subject to cold and/or hot temperatures rain wind sun dust animals insects etc.
