Job Summary

Description

Jockey Room Custodians are responsible for attending to Jockeys at the racetrack.

Responsibilities

Ensures that Jockeys scheduled to ride are dressed with riding equipment that meets track specifications.
Inspects Jockeys for specified colors silks saddle numbers and additional riding equipment.
Maintains order and cleans jockey room dressings & riding equipment.
Examines lead pads to define that they meet track specifications.

Qualifications

High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or up to one month related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Must possess strong communication skills be flexible and detail oriented.
Must be able to obtain an Indiana Horse Racing License.
Ability to read a limited number of two- and three-syllable words and to recognize similarities and differences between words and between series of numbers. Ability to print and speak simple sentences.
Ability to add and subtract two digit numbers and to multiply and divide with 10s and 100s. Ability to perform these operations using units of American money and weight measurement volume and distance.
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions.
Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS

Responsible for fostering a fun environment. Responsible for being gracious to all guests and co-workers.
Responsible for promoting a positive influence in the community and participating in company-sponsored events.
Behavior and appearance must be in compliance with established standards.
Maintains a professional work environment with management and staff.
Frequent standing walking stooping bending reaching climbing steps and sitting.
Must be able to lift up to 30 pounds.

Must be able to work in a highly populated fast-paced and noisy environment.
