Admissions: Inpatient surgical oncology admissions as indicated
Rounding: Included
Phone Consults: As required
Case Mix: Hepatobiliary and pancreatic surgical oncology patients
FACILITY INFORMATION
Trauma Level: Adult Level III / IV
Office Equipment Available: Standard inpatient and outpatient clinical equipment
Specialty Backup Available: Surgical oncology attending physicians
Support Staff Available: Multidisciplinary oncology care teams
PRIVILEGES & COMPLIANCE
Hospital Privileges Required: Yes
Credentialing Timeline: Approximately 810 weeks for Nurse Practitioners and 45 months for Physician Assistants
Fingerprinting Required: Yes; results must be posted prior to privileges being granted

Orientation: 4 hours non-billable
REQUIRED PROCEDURES
Assisting in the operating room including patient preparation intraoperative assistance and closure
Wound care and drain care or removal
Perioperative and postoperative patient management
JOB REQUIREMENTS
Licenses: Minnesota license required for quick start; NPs without license may be reviewed
Board: National certification required for NP or PA
Experience: Prior experience in surgical oncology or inpatient surgical services preferred
Other Qualifications: Ability to work independently and collaboratively in inpatient and outpatient settings
Orientation: 4 hours non-billable
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Provide comprehensive care to surgical oncology patients in both inpatient and outpatient settings
Coordinate preoperative and postoperative care in collaboration with surgeons
Complete patient assessments diagnoses and treatment plans
Order and interpret diagnostic studies in coordination with attending physicians
Prescribe medications therapies and medical equipment as appropriate
Educate patients and families regarding treatment plans and recovery
Participate in multidisciplinary care coordination and rounding
Serve as a clinical resource to staff and act as liaison with outside agencies as needed
Document all patient care activities accurately and timely
