Job Description
Beginning with the 2025-2026 fiscal year and continuing for the subsequent years of the agreement the position of Custodian and Maintenance Lead will be included in the stipend position list.
Annual Stipend: The Custodian and Maintenance Lead for the district will receive an annual stipend of $6000 which will be paid in regular installments throughout the work year. It should be considered pensionable earnings by the Essex Regional Retirement System.
Key Duties: The Custodian and Maintenance Lead will be responsible for covering for the Director of Maintenance and Custodians in their absence. They will be responsible for managing the inventory of materials and supplies for custodial across schools and the maintenance of the district supply center at Atkinson Elementary. The Custodian and Maintenance Lead will be responsible for scheduling coverage for first and second shift custodial staff as needed as well as the training of new and experienced custodians on an annual basis. The Custodian and Maintenance Lead will be a contributor to the supervision of custodians and maintenance but on a non-evaluative basis.
Coverage for Director: If the Director of Maintenance and Custodians is on an extended leave of absence (an absence of fifteen (15) or more consecutive work days) then the District will meet with the Union president and chair of the Custodian bargaining unit to discuss how best to cover the absence without having a detrimental or negative impact on the bargaining unit.
