Essential for the Role:

• Bachelors or Masters degree in Electrical Electronics and/or Communications Engineering or a related discipline.
• Professional membership with recognized institutions (e.g. Institute of Engineering and Technology IET or equivalent).
• Minimum 5-10 years experience involved in Electrical/Electronics Traffic Signals and/or Intelligent Transport Systems (ITS) for Highways/ Infrastructure projects
• Experience working on international projects particularly in the UK US Canada or the Middle East.
• Design and develop traffic signalized intersections.
• Design and develop Intelligent Transport Systems (ITS) solutions including Variable Message Signs (VMS) CCTV systems MIDAS HAWIS HADECS Vehicle detection systems Emergency Roadside Telephones (ERT) and Power & Communication networks.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to integrate ITS designs into broader transport and infrastructure projects.
• Conduct feasibility studies and technical evaluations to inform ITS design and implementation.
• Prepare detailed design documentation specifications and drawings for Traffic Signal and ITS projects.
• Provide technical support and guidance to clients and project teams throughout the project lifecycle.
• Stay updated with the latest advancements in Traffic/ITS technologies and standards to ensure cutting-edge design solutions.
• Manage project timelines budgets and resources effectively to ensure successful project delivery.
• Ensure Traffic Signal and ITS designs comply with relevant safety regulatory and quality standards.
• Demonstrate a strong understanding of British American Canadian and other international design standards and specifications.
• Proficient in design software particularly AutoCAD Civils 3D Navisworks. LinSig and Amtech/Trimble Pro for Electrical Calculations.
• Familiarity with modern communication tools and online collaboration platforms.
• Good command of Microsoft Office package.
• Proven ability to deliver work within set time frames.
• Experience/evidence and ability to work independently and manage small/medium size projects.

Desirable:

• Previous work experience of Traffic Signals and/or Intelligent Transport System (ITS).
• Experience of specification and programming of traffic signals controllers and all signal modes including UTC/SCOOT and MOVA.
• Experience working in an offshoring or global delivery environment.
• Exposure to digital delivery methods.
• Ability to mentor junior team members and collaborate effectively with wider teams.
• Proactive approach to staying updated with emerging technologies such as AI Digital Twin Edge Computing Quantum Technology and AI-powered traffic signal systems.
