Position Summary:
The Maintenance Mechanic maintains the facility plant and essential mechanical electrical and resident care equipment in safe operating condition. Services provided are consistent with the Life Safety Code of the National Fire Protection Association and with all state and federal laws and regulations. The Maintenance Mechanic will maintain the emergency power system to ensure availability of power to all entrances exits fire detection alarms and extinguishing equipment and life support systems in the event electrical supplies are interrupted. Ensures the availability of portable water to essential areas in the event of loss of normal water supply. Checks facility hot water system on regular basis to evaluate water temperatures in essential locations of facility. Maintains adjusts and repairs hot water system to eliminate hazards to facility residents staff and others. Inspects physical plant for any signs of rodents or cooperation with Housekeeping Department implements effective pest control system to eliminate any rodents and pests. Maintains adjusts and repairs adequate and comfortable lighting level appropriate for tasks without glare. Lighting supports independent functioning and task performance of residents. Other duties as assigned.

Education/Training/Work Experience:High School Diploma or equivalent vocational training in skilled trade or other relevant technical training. Minimum two years experience in physical plant operations and equipment maintenance in an institutional health care setting.
Certificate/Licenses:Must have a license or certificate in one of the following trades: Plumbing Carpentry Electricity.
