Job Summary

Responsibilities:

  • The Patient Advocate serves as the primary point of contact for the identification management and resolution of assigned complaints grievances and requests communicated by and/or on behalf of the populations served by Sheppard Pratt.

  • The Patient Advocate engages with the patient/patient representative to assure protection of patient rights facilitate communication between patients and staff educate patients (or secure appropriate resources to do so) on the topic of their concern so that matters are resolved in a timely manner in accordance with regulatory requirements.

  • This role will require occasional travel to our Baltimore Washington Hospital in Elkridge Maryland.

Requirements:

  • Bachelors degree in clinical psychology counseling nursing or related health services field of study.
    • Masters degree preferred.
  • Work requires 3 years of hospital experience in order to gain comprehensive knowledge of clinical documentation requirements; knowledge of the law regulations pertaining to patients rights; general knowledge in the requirements and review processes of TJC CMS and state regulatory agencies; demonstrated experience in researching and preparing for audits/reviews. Broad knowledge of treatment of psychiatric populations preferred.
    • Experience in healthcare advocacy and/or clinical role is preferred.

Hours:

  • Four 10-hour shifts (9a-7p) with weekend rotation (approx. 1 per month)
  • If interested working weekends and 2 additional weekdays will also be considered

The pay range for this position is $54074.18 minimum to $83510.75 maximum. Pay for this position is determined on a number of factors including but not limited to years and level of related experience.
