Description of Work
Salary Range: $35984 - $62971Reporting to the Correctional Programs Supervisor this position is responsible for carrying a caseload of offenders which involves supportive counseling conducting assessments developing case plans answer and following up on offender questions and problems. Job responsibilities include; but are limited to the following:
- Providing recommendations to the classification committee.
- Assisting in major dynamic programs or coordination major or specialized programs for the rehabilitation of offenders such as offender work assignments work release education or recreation.
- Planning and coordination transition (re-entry) prior to parole or release into the community.
Knowledge Skills and Abilities/Management Preferences
- Knowledge of supportive counseling techniques
Necessary Special Qualifications:
This is a full-time position (working 40 hours per week) withState Benefits.

The salary grade for this position is NC07. State employees are encouraged to apply for positions of interest even if the salary grade is the same as or lower than their current position. If selected for this position a new salary will be recalculated taking into consideration the quantity of relevant education and experience funding availability and internal equity. Based upon these factors a pay increase MAY result.

Tabor Correctional Institution is located in Tabor City North Carolina and houses up to 1752 male offenders in a close medium and minimum custody facility.
Minimum Education and Experience
Some state job postings say you can qualify by an equivalent combination of education and experience. Associates degree in Criminal Justice Human Services Recreation or a related field from an appropriately accredited institution
Or
High school or General Educational Development (GED) diploma and two years of custody experience within the North Carolina Department of Public Safety
Or
An equivalent combination of training and experience.
