Position Overview:

The Diabetes Prevention Program Supervisor is responsible for the oversight and supervision of the Diabetes Prevention Program day-to-day operations and staff. This role is responsible for delivering high-quality diabetes prevention programs to Harris County residents and fostering relationships with community partners.


Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Supervise develop support and evaluate program staff to ensure adherence to established procedures quality standards and timeliness while managing daily program operations.
  • Utilizes evidence-based diabetes prevention/management curriculum to instruct manage and facilitate lifestyle education to the community.
  • Plans and conducts outreach activities including attending partnership meetings and community events to enhance program engagement and participation.
  • Develops and maintains partnerships with Harris County community organizations in order to launch education sessions and ensure successful participation within the community.
  • Records and monitors participant data including number of participants seen. Tracks progress toward program goals and ensures documentation is accurate and completed timely.
  • Reviews records and reports pertaining to program activities evaluates performance for program activities and employees and makes adjustments as needed.
  • Stays updated on the latest research approaches theories and practices in pre-diabetes and diabetes management.
  • Performs other duties as assigned including special tasks involved with responding to emergency events.

Requirements

Education:

  • Bachelors degree in nutrition dietetics public health or related field.

Experience:

  • At least two (2) years of experience working directly in public health nutrition and/or dietetics.
  • At least one (1) year of experience supervising program activities and staff.

Licensure/Certifications:

  • Valid Texas Drivers License.

Knowledge Skills and Abilities:

  • Proficient in MS Office Suite (Word Excel PowerPoint Outlook).
  • Excellent communication skills (verbal & written).
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships and foster teamwork in a diverse environment.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality when dealing with sensitive information.
  • Ability to work well with public and staff members.

General Information

Position Type and Typical Hours of Work:

  • This is a full-time grant-funded position
  • Days and hours of work are typically Monday through Friday from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm
  • Must be willing to flex work hours when required including weekends
  • Expected to travel within Harris County jurisdiction

Work Environment:

  • This job operates in both a professional office and community environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers phones photocopiers filing cabinets and fax machines.

Physical Demands:

  • This role requires the ability to lift carry push pull up to 50 pounds and bending & standing for periods at a time.
