The Risk Management Division is actively seeking a Claims Intake Specialist.

This is administrative and customer service work in the coordinating and handling of insurance claims to determine type cause and severity in accordance with established rules and procedures. Work requires knowledge of techniques methods and procedures used in the handling of insurance claims which involves the use of specialized skills which is acquired through a combination of training and considerable on the job experience. This position will evaluate the claims as to type cause and severity and will schedule and distribute them to the proper adjusters. Contacts with applicants require basic courtesy tact and effectiveness in dealing with others including contacts to request or provide information ask questions or obtain clarification. The administrative work is semi-routine in that tasks are covered by procedures or precedents but some latitude is permitted to consider the most appropriate method technique or procedure to follow. The work involves similar situations and generally requires only the choice of the correct procedure. Work is performed in an office environment. Operates standard office equipment such as personal computers. The physical demands consist mainly of moving from one work location to another sitting or standing at a work-station for extended periods of time and dependent upon assigned work location may be required to lift objects weighing up to 15 pounds. The work is performed under general supervision where the work assignments are subject to instructions and established work routines and the worker is given latitude to rearrange the sequence based on changing work situations or workflow. Overall the work is reviewed in terms of timeliness compatibility with other work projects and effectiveness in meeting requirements or expected results.One year of education and/or experience in customer service or office administration.
OTHER REQUIREMENTS:
The probationary period for this classification is six (6) months.
LICENSING/CERTIFICATION/REGISTRATION:
Florida All Lines Claims Adjuster License must be obtained during the six-month probationary period and must be maintained during employment in this class.
