What Youll Do
Applies and removes insulating materials to various types of piping pipeline tanks boilers still towers and equipment for protective purposes against frosting heat radiation absorption freezing and condensation. Prepares proper mix or may use ready block or molded insulation. Prepares HEPA vacuums negative air machines and assembles/operates containment activities as required.
Minimum Job Requirements
- Requires five years experience or completion of a four-year apprenticeship program in the insulation of piping systems tanks boilers and equipment involving the use of application of block-type specially formed and mixed insulating materials including retaining materials binding metal bands and other permanent retention fixtures.
- Must satisfactorily complete all training requirements.
- Must be able to wear protective equipment including respirator.
- Must be able to receive and perform assignments from written instructions elementary or detailed blueprints manufacturers instructions or oral instruction.
- Must be able to perform at the strenuous physical level required of this classification.
- The ability to obtain and maintain a Department of Energy clearance is required. Position may require entry into Materials Access Areas (MAA) and participation in the Human Reliability Program (HRP). If HRP is required candidate must complete a counterintelligence-scope polygraph pursuant to 10 CFR 709.
- In addition the applicant must meet the requirements of DOE O 426.2A: (i.e. High School diploma; or a DOE O 426.2A alternative).

Requires a Q clearance; however all qualified candidates will be considered regardless of their current clearance status. The ability to obtain and maintain a Department of Energy Q clearance is required.
