Vast is looking for a Security Officer reporting to the Senior Supervisor Securityto support the development of the systems that will be required for the design and build of artificial-gravity human-rated space stations.
This will be a part-time non-exempt position located in ourLong Beachlocation.
The Security Officer I plays a vital role in maintaining a safe secure and professional environment at an aerospace facility. This position is responsible for access control patrolling incident reporting and supporting security must demonstrate strong attention to detail situational awareness and customer service while enforcing security policies.
We are currently hiring for the below schedules:
- Weekend Shifts: Saturday & Sunday: 7am-7pm and 7pm-7am
Responsibilities:
- Verify the identity and point of contact of all visitors ensuring compliance with facility access procedures.
- Issue and manage visitor and temporary employee badges ensuring only authorized individuals enter designated areas.
- Conduct routine patrols of all buildings perimeter areas and critical infrastructure to detect and deter unauthorized activity.
- Observe document and report any suspicious behavior security violations or safety concerns to security management.
- Escort vendors and contractors as required ensuring compliance with facility security protocols.
- Provide security assistance to other departments as needed including support for special events or operational activities.
- Maintain accurate and detailed incident reports shift logs and security documentation.
- Respond professionally to security-related inquiries safety concerns and emergency situations in accordance with company policies.
- Perform additional duties as assigned to support the overall security mission
Minimum Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Valid California BSIS Guard Card or ability to obtain before employment.
- CPR/First Aid certified or willing to complete certification.
- Two or more years of experience in security operations preferably in an industrial aerospace or manufacturing environment.
Preferred Skills & Experience:
- Strong customer service skills with a professional and courteous demeanor.
- Ability to de-escalate situations verbally and maintain composure under pressure.
- Prior BSIS or equivalent security training such as de-escalation tactics report writing or defensive tactics.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to provide clear and concise incident reports.
- Ability to work independently while following security procedures and protocols.
Additional Requirements:
- Must be available to work all required shifts including overtime weekends and holidays based on operational needs.
- Ability to stand walk and conduct patrols for extended periods across various terrains.
- Must be able to work in various climate conditions including heat wind and cold
- Ability to perform physical duties of the role including lifting up to 25 lbs and extended walking/standing.
Pay Range:
- Security Officer I: $18.00 - $23.00
- Security Officer II: $21.00 - $28.00
