Job Summary

  • Contribute to the preparation of Environmental and Social Impact Assessments (ESIAs) for hydropower renewable energy and large infrastructure projects
  • Conduct and support field surveys related to forestry biodiversity and ecological assessments
  • Supervise and coordinate specialist studies and external consultants as required
  • Monitor analyze and report on ecological forestry and environmental parameters
  • Support assessment of biodiversity impacts and development of mitigation and management plans
  • Apply knowledge of forest ecology land-use management and restoration practices within Lao PDR
  • Assist in carbon-related forestry initiatives such as forest carbon projects baseline assessments or monitoring frameworks where applicable
  • Prepare high-quality technical reports in line with international standards and client requirements
  • Ensure ESIA deliverables align with international safeguard frameworks including IFC Performance Standards and the Equator Principles
  • Manage tasks effectively to meet project timelines and deliverables
  • Collaborate with international and multidisciplinary project teams

Qualifications :

  • Masters degree in Environmental Engineering Forestry Forest Ecology Environmental Science or a closely related discipline
  • Strong academic or professional grounding in forestry and forest ecology including forest types degradation restoration and biodiversity values
  • Minimum 4 years of relevant professional experience in environmental assessment or related fields
  • Experience in Environmental and Social Impact Assessment (ESIA) preparation is required
  • Proven technical report-writing skills including clear structuring accurate data presentation and adherence to deadlines
  • Practical knowledge of GIS and remote sensing tools
  • Familiarity with land-use management practices in Lao PDR is an advantage
  • Experience or demonstrated interest in carbon credit or forest carbon systems is an advantage
  • Ability to work independently and within multidisciplinary teams
  • Willingness to travel frequently to project sites
