IT is at the heart of Euroclears business driving continuous innovation and delivering cost-efficient high-quality services to our customers. Today our core business runs on HP NonStop Servers (Tandem) with communications infrastructure and message routing implemented on Red Hat Enterprise Linux.
Euroclear is embarking on a major transformation: migrating CREST from COBOL programs on the HPE NonStop Guardian platform to a modern commoditised environment such as Linux. The new technology stack will be Java-based leveraging Event Hub technologies (e.g. Kafka) for integration between migrated services and legacy systems. Migrated services must be platform-independent capable of running on OpenShift Linux environments. This migration will be incremental and span several years.
Your Role in GBS
You will join the Solutions Architecture team within the Software Engineering Tribe playing a pivotal role in defining target architectures and designing end-to-end solutions across GBS domains. Your primary focus will be the EUI Transformation Programme while contributing to the evolution of our Solution Architecture practice.
Key Responsibilities
- Solution Definition: Support and where appropriate lead the design and implementation of architecture solutions for transversal programs ensuring alignment with functional and non-functional requirements.
- Collaboration: Partner with requirement owners domain architects and IT engineers to deliver high-quality solutions.
- Integration: Act as the bridge between Enterprise Architecture and IT delivery teams ensuring compliance with enterprise standards and domain target architectures.
- Community Contribution: Develop reusable solution patterns and building blocks; actively shape Solution Architecture and Software Engineering practices.
- Technology Expertise: Apply hands-on experience to define business capability target architectures and roadmaps with a strong focus on EUI Transformation.
- Knowledge Sharing: Engage in communities of practice to share best practices and lessons learned.
Additional Responsibilities:
- Ensure IT solutions align with enterprise engineering and architecture standards.
- Guarantee end-to-end consistency across platforms and teams (e.g. solution walkthroughs).
- Collaborate with security teams to meet security standards.
- Define infrastructure requirements and work with infrastructure teams on technical design.
- Establish guidelines patterns and standards for the new technology stack.
- Develop prototypes and proof-of-concepts to validate key components of the architecture.
- Provide estimation principles for migration phases and PoC exercises.
- Lead prototype implementation and subsequent work.
- Undertake hands-on Java development while coaching and mentoring colleagues.
- Present solution architectures and plans to management customers and team members.
- Act as the technical authority for the new solution stack.
Qualifications Essential Skills & Experience
- Proven experience in solutions architecture and systems development across all stages: inception budgeting design development testing implementation and support.
- Strong expertise in:
- Event Hub technologies (e.g. Kafka)
- Modern architectures (SOA microservices)
- Platform-independent and database-independent applications
- Object-Oriented Design and Java programming
- Database design (Oracle SQL Server etc.)
- Containerization and OpenShift environments
- Experience in Financial Market Infrastructure or regulated environments.
Soft Skills
- Ability to motivate mentor and inspire colleagues.
- A collaborative team player and role model open to peer reviews.
- Reliable self-driven and comfortable working independently.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills (oral and written).
- Proven ability to:
- Deliver within agreed timelines
- Solve problems effectively
- Adapt to dynamic environments
- Take ownership and accountability for project work
Desirable Skills
- Knowledge of Post Trade Settlement systems (CREST)
- Familiarity with messaging standards: ISO 15022 ISO 20022 JSON
- Experience with Agile development IBM MQ and Angular framework
