Job Summary

Join the City of Edmontons Legal Services branch as a Supervisor Legal Administration. This role is pivotal in leading a high-performing team that provides essential support to both litigation and solicitor sections. We are looking for a dedicated leader who thrives in a fast-paced legal environment and is passionate about process improvement mentorship and service excellence.


In this role you will lead a diverse team of Legal Assistants to ensure the seamless delivery of legal administrative support across the Branch. Your primary focus will be managing staff requirements including recruitment performance management and resource allocation. Beyond day-to-day supervision you will spearhead initiatives and projects designed to modernize and improve legal support processes. You will collaborate closely with other supervisors to establish consistent policies and maintain high-quality service metrics. This position requires a balance of strong legal acumen and advanced leadership skills to navigate complex administrative challenges.

What will you do

  • Manage a team of Legal Assistants overseeing hiring performance reviews and daily work distribution

  • Coordinate workload distribution and ensure appropriate coverage schedules are in place for all positions

  • Establish and monitor working metrics to ensure high-quality service levels and management satisfaction

  • Develop training manuals and implement cross-training plans to support efficient service delivery and succession planning

  • Collaborate with Branch leadership to establish consistent administrative policies and procedures

  • Identify opportunities for innovation and lead process improvement projects for the Legal Assistant complement

  • Provide coaching mentoring and professional development opportunities to team members

  • Completion of the twelfth school grade
  • A certificate in Legal Business or Administrative studies
  • Minimum of five years of progressively responsible and diversified office experience
  • Minimum of two years of experience supervising a moderate to large clerical or administrative support unit

Assets:

  • A Legal Assistant or Paralegal Diploma
  • Experience using Taleo SAP POSSE LMS IVOS or CPC systems

Skills required for success:

  • Ability to grasp and respond effectively within a legal environment
  • A high degree of confidentiality
  • Highly developed skills in coaching mentoring and mediating for a large group of staff
  • Ability to manage priorities in a high-volume demanding environment and implement change
  • Excellent interpersonal and presentation skills to work skillfully with legal professionals and collaborators
  • Strong analytical reasoning to develop solutions for administrative issues
  • Advanced skills in Google Platform and Microsoft Office

Salary Range: $36.312 - $45.611 (Hourly); $63972.67 - $80355.18 (Annually)
