At Emory Healthcare (EHC) wound ostomy and continence care is a system-wide clinical priority supported by innovation research and expert leadership. We are seeking a Wound Ostomy Registered Nurse (RN) to direct elevate and advance wound pressure injury and ostomy care across our organization.

Job Summary

• Directs agency-wide initiatives for pressure ulcer prevention wound care and ostomy care to include supporting pressure ulcer prevalence data collection evidence-based policies procedures and protocols and advisement of appropriate support surfaces products and staff decision-making algorithms.

• Develops and conducts educational programs and clinical instruction for Emory Healthcare staff and students enrolled in Emory Universitys Wound Ostomy Continence Education Program.

• Provides advanced clinical guidance to physicians and nursing staff regarding the management of complex wounds fistulas moisture management and pressure ulcers.

• Determines appropriate nursing interventions for identified patient problems symptoms and teaching needs in respect to wound and ostomy care.

• Recommends the equipment materials and resources needed to successfully implement a wound or ostomy care plan.

• Performs appropriate pre-operative stoma site marking and ostomy education.

• Develops and conducts post-operative ostomy education and ostomy care plan for the patient and family.

• Performs related responsibilities as required.

7. This nurse will have over two years of nursing experience a BSN (or completion of RN-MSN) MSN DNP program and specialty certification.

8. Demonstrates expertise in chosen scholarly activities focused on the advancement or promotion of the profession.

Clinical Practice and Documentation

1. Role models dependable effective and efficient care to a patient population using the nursing process.

2. Demonstrates expert assessment skills. Demonstrates foresight regarding the impact of nursing care on patient outcomes based on intuition and experience.

3. Is recognized as an expert clinician and a leader within their area of specialty and assists less experienced nurses concerning patient care.

4. Monitors the adherence to documentation standards provides feedback to staff and implements test(s) of change.

5. Assists management in making and implementing changes to the documentation process as necessary.

6. Establishes promotes and evaluates standardized plans of care for the unit using evidence-based research within the area of specialty.

7. Remains informed of innovative clinical trends through benchmarking and evidence-based practice.

8. Collaborates with management and patient/family advisor council to develop standardized teaching materials for patient and family learning needs.

9. Demonstrates exemplary practice using AACN Synergy Model for Patient Care.

10. Role models time management skills through example.

11. Ensures compliance and adherence with stated policies and procedures for a patient population.

Professional Development

1. Must meet all Clinical Nurse I Employee Commitments.

2. Achieves electives and contact hours as defined in the PLAN (clinical lattice) system to maintain position.

Minimum Qualifications

• Education: Graduate of an accredited prelicensure Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN)

• Experience: Two years experience as an RN with a minimum of two years of experience in the area of concentration

• License: Must have a valid active unencumbered Nursing license approved by the Georgia Licensing Board

• Certifications:

  1. BLS certification

  2. ACLS may be required in designated departments

  3. Nursing Specialty Certification

  4. If completing virtual care activities that may include multi-state practice an active compact/multistate license (eNLC) is required within 60 days of hire. Employees in role prior to 11/09/2025 will have until their next renewal date to achieve compact status.

Preferred Qualifications

• Certification: Certification in Continence Care
