Job Summary
General Information
The Cowichan Valley Regional District is now accepting applications for Janitor opportunities in the Facilities Division within the Community Services Department. Reporting to the Manager Facility Operations (North/Central Cowichan) and supervised by the Janitor-Lead Head the Janitor is responsible to perform a variety of tasks related to janitorial/custodial and cleaning methods of the facility.
Qualifications
- Secondary School graduation or the equivalent combination of education training and experience.
- 1 year experience in cleaning routines materials equipment usage and facility custodial operations
- WHMIS certification -- provided by the employer
- Basic First Aid Certificate
- Valid Class 5 BC Drivers License employer provided vehicle

Hours of Work
This is a casual on-call opportunity with no guaranteed hours of work. Shifts are based on the operational needs of the facility. The successful candidate must be able to work a variety of hours and shifts including weekdays weekends evenings and short-notice shifts.
Salary
This Janitor position is unionized (CUPE Local 358) with a salary ranging in three steps from $32.55 - $33.50 - $34.49 per hour (2025 rates) plus an additional 14.5% pay in lieu of vacation benefits and statutory holidays.
