Job Summary

Job Title: Quality Engineer Position Summary

The Quality Engineer is responsible for ensuring that all production functions and operations meet customer quality requirements in an efficient and effective manner. This role represents the Voice of the Customer internally supports product launches drives corrective actions and ensures compliance with the Quality Management System (QMS) and applicable customer and regulatory requirements.

Core Activities
  • Represent the Voice of the Customer across internal functions.

  • Participate in APQP project teams to support successful product launches.

  • Serve as the primary customer liaison for quality-related concerns.

  • Manage customer portals and monitor scorecard performance; develop and implement improvement plans as needed.

  • Collect and analyze customer feedback to ensure customer satisfaction.

  • Provide quality-related training to employees as required.

  • Record analyze and present quality performance and test results to management.

  • Collect and analyze data from multiple sources to identify trends and improvement opportunities.

  • Improve existing quality processes and develop new guidelines to meet regulatory and customer requirements.

Quality Responsibilities
  • Create maintain and manage capability studies Gage R&R inspection instructions and control plans for new and existing products.

  • Identify and mitigate risks related to product quality process stability and customer requirements.

  • Manage customer and supplier PPAP submission processes.

  • Ensure effective deployment and ongoing maintenance of control plans on production lines.

  • Review and improve control plans and capability studies for compliance and effectiveness.

  • Lead and drive 8D corrective action processes to closure.

  • Control and disposition nonconforming product to prevent further processing or shipment.

  • Ensure products comply with company quality standards and customer requirements.

  • Monitor production processes and equipment to ensure quality specifications are consistently met.

  • Update and maintain customer-specific control plans.

  • Develop and maintain testing and inspection procedures.

  • Create and maintain Non-Conforming Parts Procedures for assigned programs.

  • Ensure compliance with Customer Specific Requirements (CSRs).

  • Apply and support AIAG Core Tools: APQP FMEA MSA PPAP SPC.

  • Monitor supplier quality performance and support corrective actions.

  • Apply relevant AIAG CQI manuals as applicable to the facility.

Quality System Responsibilities (Applicable to All Employees)
  • Comply with the companys QMS and IATF 16949 requirements.

  • Follow documented procedures work instructions and standards.

  • Participate in required quality training and maintain competency.

  • Report nonconformities defects or process deviations promptly.

  • Support continuous improvement initiatives and quality objectives.

  • Ensure proper handling identification and storage of materials and products.

  • Maintain accurate quality records per QMS and customer requirements.

  • Support internal and external audits.

  • Promote awareness of customer requirements and quality policies.

  • Maintain training and competency records as required.

Safety and Environmental Responsibilities
  • Comply with Health Safety Quality and Environmental policies.

  • Participate in emergency preparedness drills and follow evacuation procedures.

  • Perform quality activities in accordance with safety and environmental standards.

  • Promote safe practices during inspections testing and production monitoring.

  • Support environmental objectives by minimizing waste and energy consumption.

Applicable to All Employees
  • Know and comply with site Safety Environment and Energy policies.

  • Take responsibility for personal and co-worker safety.

  • Report and/or correct safety or environmental hazards.

  • Wear required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).

  • Maintain cleanliness organization and proper waste segregation.

Labor Relations and Management
  • Reports to: Quality Manager

  • Direct Reports: None

Functional Relationships
  • Works closely with Production Engineering Maintenance and Supply Chain to ensure quality compliance and issue resolution.

External Relationships
  • Interfaces with customers on quality concerns and PPAP submissions.

  • Collaborates with suppliers on quality performance and corrective actions.

Responsibilities and Authority
  • Scope: Oversees quality planning and execution for assigned programs including APQP PPAP control plans capability studies and corrective actions.

  • Impact: Directly influences product conformity customer satisfaction production efficiency and supplier performance.

  • Authority: Operates within QMS and company policies; exercises judgment in quality decisions and customer communication.

  • Resources: Access to quality systems inspection and calibration equipment ERP data and cross-functional support.

Competency Requirements
  • Bachelors degree in a technical field or a minimum of 5 years of relevant quality experience.

  • Strong analytical decision-making and problem-solving skills.

  • High attention to detail.

  • Thorough knowledge of quality standards and regulatory requirements.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Outlook.

  • Strong teamwork and multitasking abilities.

  • Ability to meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.

Physical and Safety Requirements
  • Ability to stand for extended periods.

  • Ability to lift up to 20 lbs on a regular basis.
