SUMMARY
The Bartender is responsible for mixing and serving alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks to guests while maintaining the high standard of cleanliness of each bar area according to established policies. They will ensure a positive guest experience and interact and service guests in a cordial and gracious manner.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Responsible for mixing and serving alcoholic beverage and/or non-alcoholic beverages according to established recipes and procedures.
- Verify identification and age requirements of customers.
- Mix traditional and creative cocktails.
- Maintains high standards of personal appearance and grooming which include wearing proper uniform when working.
- Demonstrates a high degree of approachability to guests and shows special recognition of frequent guests.
- Have TIPS certification in an attempt to limit problems and liability related to customers over drinking.
- Maintain a positive restaurant culture.
- Abides by all laws pertaining to service of alcoholic beverages to consumers including verifying identification of all purchasers of alcoholic beverages who appear to be underage.
- Maintains bar inventory and supplies.
- Interacts with customers takes orders and serves drinks.
- Assesses customer needs and preferences.
- Offer daily specials.
- Slice pit and prepare fruit garnishments for drinks.
- Upselling drinks to maximize profits.
- Focus on all customers and provides an exceptional customer experience.
- Polish bar glasses organize the bar and set up drink mats napkins and straws.
- Build a rapport with regular customers to create a positive atmosphere.
- Responsible for receiving issuing and keeping necessary records of liquor store and supplies.
- Maintains a neat and clean bar station on a continual basis.
- Process payment from customers.
- Promotes a clean safe and healthy working environment for employees and guests.
- Takes responsibility to know understand and comply with established company and departmental policies and procedures.
- Follows company safety and security policies and procedures. Reports accidents injuries and unsafe conditions.
- Maintains constant awareness of services promotions and events offered by Shoshone-Bannock Casino Hotel.
- Participates as a team member with all Beverage Servers Barbacks utilities Supervisors and any pertinent Company Employees to ensure efficient operational standard.
- Performs related duties as assigned.
- Must comply complete and maintain all assigned online training programs before due dates.
- MUST MAINTAIN STRICT CONFIDENTIALITY OF ALL INFORMATION PROCESSED THROUGH THE DEPARTMENT INCLUDING RECORDS REPORTS DOCUMENTS CONVERSATIONS ETC. A breach of confidentiality will be subject to appropriate disciplinary action up to and including termination from employment.

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS

- Meets the minimum age to serve alcohol.
- Bilingual abilities are a plus.
- Cash handling and POS experience.
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules and procedural manuals.

- Eye for detail and understanding of drink mixing tools and techniques.
- Knowledge of applicable laws and regulations.

- Knowledge of the Dram Shop Act and Bartenders responsibilities and rights under it.
- Knowledge of all Gaming and Beverage regulations and maintains required alcoholic beverage license.

- Ability to enforce company policies regarding the consumption of alcohol.
- Accountability in maintaining inventory and processing payments.
- Physically ability to stand and walk for long periods of time.
- Thorough knowledge of ABC regulations and requirements.

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE
(G4/S1-3 DOE)
- High School Diploma or GED required;
- One (1) year of previous bartending experience;
- or an equivalent combination of training or experience.
(G5/S1-3 DOE)
- Certification as a Bartender or Mixologist from a reputable bartending school preferred;
- Two (2) or more years of experience as a Server Hostess Front Desk Agent or similar position;
- or an equivalent combination of education training or experience.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
Ability to add subtract multiply and divide in all units of measure using whole numbers common fractions and decimals. Ability to perform these operations using units of American money and weight measurement volume and distance.
REASONING ABILITY
Ability to apply commonsense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written oral or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables. Must be able to communicate effectively in person while on the phone while using intercom/microphone and in writing.
CERTIFICATES LICENSE AND REGISTRATIONS
- Must be able to submit supporting documents of education and training (High School Diploma GED Degree and Certificates). if applicable.
- Must be able to obtain and maintain Food ServSafe Alcohol ServSafe and TIPS certification within 90- days of employment.
- Must be able to obtain and maintain Food Handlers certification within 90-days of employment.
- Must be able to pass a complete background investigation.
- Must be able to pass a drug/alcohol screening.
- Must be able to obtain and maintain in good standing a Drivers License and qualify for Fleet Management coverage on company vehicles.

While performing the duties of the position the employee is regularly required to talk and hear. This job operates in a public work environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers phones photocopiers filing cabinets and fax machines. While performing the duties of the position the employee is frequently exposed to moving mechanical parts and fumes tobacco smoke or airborne particles.
The employee is occasionally exposed to the risk of electrical shock. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. When on the casino floor the noise level increases too loud.
