Business Development Associate
About the Role
Were looking for a Business Development Associate to drive customer acquisition and revenue growth with a strong Product Operations lens. This is a commercial role at its core responsible for owning the sales process end to end from sourcing and qualifying opportunities through closing and early customer success.
What makes this role unique is the ability to translate customer needs and deal context into scalable product and operational improvements. Youll work closely with customers during pre-sales pilots and early deployments ensuring what we sell can be delivered effectively and repeatedly as the business scales.
What Youll Do
Business Development & Sales
- Own the full sales cycle from lead qualification to close
- Build and manage a sales pipeline including forecasting and deal tracking
- Track and communicate key metrics related to pipeline health adoption and time-to-value
- Lead customer discovery solution scoping and commercial negotiations
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with prospects partners and early customers
- Work with leadership on pricing packaging and commercial strategy
- Represent the company externally in sales conversations demos and industry discussions
- Contribute to improving internal tools documentation and processes that support growth
Product & Customer Enablement
- Act as the commercial voice of the customer internally
- Translate customer requirements objections and usage patterns into clear product and operational inputs
- Identify gaps where sales promises and product delivery may misalign and proactively address them
- Support pilots onboarding and early implementations to drive successful adoption
- Ensure smooth handoffs from deal close into delivery and ongoing customer success
- Identify recurring deal blockers or customization requests and work with Product to reduce friction over time
What Success Looks Like (First 612 Months)
- A healthy growing sales pipeline with predictable conversion
- Closed deals that can be delivered with minimal custom work
- Faster onboarding and clearer sales-to-delivery handoffs
- Reduced friction in pre-sales through better product clarity and positioning
- Strong alignment between customer expectations commercial terms and product capabilities
What Were Looking For
Required
- 5 years of experience in Business Development Sales or Commercial roles ideally in a startup or scale-up environment. Experience in a B2B SaaS environment is an asset.
- Demonstrated experience owning and managing a sales pipeline
- Strong communication negotiation and relationship-building skills
- Comfort leading customer conversations from discovery through close
- Ability to translate commercial discussions into structured product and operational insights
- Highly organized execution-focused and comfortable operating with ambiguity
- Ability to travel to client sites (up to 25%)
Nice to Have
- Experience in energy carbon markets climate tech industrial tech or adjacent sectors
- Exposure to early-stage product sales pilots or solution selling
- Familiarity with CRM and product tooling (e.g. Salesforce/HubSpot Jira Linear Notion)
