About You:

As the Appeals Officer HE you will be responsible for the day-to-day administration and processing of student appeals ensuring outcomes are fair timely and compliant with institutional policies and regulatory requirements.

Working under the guidance of the Appeals Coordinator HE you will support the investigation and coordination of appeals maintain accurate records and contribute to continuous improvement of appeals processes. This role plays a key part in upholding procedural fairness and supporting a positive student experience.

You will be working remotely.

Key Responsibilities

Appeals Investigation and Administration

  • Review student appeals and supporting documentation to ensure completeness and validity
  • Conduct preliminary investigations and prepare impartial reports and recommendation
  • Ensure all appeal documentation complies with institutional policies and procedure
  • Maintain confidentiality and procedural fairness throughout the appeals process

Panel Coordination and Governance

  • Coordinate Appeals Panel meetings including scheduling documentation and record keeping
  • Assist with the preparation of meeting packs and briefing materials
  • Record panel decisions and ensure outcomes are accurately updated in the Appeals Register

Student Support and Communication

  • Communicate clearly with students regarding appeal submissions progress and outcomes
  • Provide guidance on appeal processes timelines and documentation requirements
  • Draft appeal outcome letters and ensure they are issued within policy timeframes
  • Escalate complex or sensitive cases to the Appeals Coordinator as required
  • Support the Student Experience team by providing accurate and policy-aligned information to students

Quality Assurance and Compliance

  • Maintain the Appeals Register and Continuous Improvement Register
  • Assist in preparing documentation and data for external appeals and audits
  • Identify trends risks and process gaps and suggest improvements
  • Ensure appeal records are stored securely and comply with data retention requirements

Education Experience and Skills

Tertiary Qualification

  • A relevant undergraduate qualification (e.g. in Business Marketing Education or International Relations) is preferred. Postgraduate qualifications will be highly regarded.

Experience

  • 12 years experience in student administration case management or a related role
  • Experience handling sensitive information in a regulated environment
  • Strong administrative and organisational skills with high attention to detail
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

Technology Proficiency

  • Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word Excel PowerPoint) and Proficiency in Student Management Systems Learning Management Systems and Microsoft Office 365
