Job Summary

Responsibilities

The Equal OpportunitySpecialist I (EOS I) will ensure that residents are treated equitably inhousing employment public accommodations credit activities and policeinteractions regardless of race color religion national origin sex agedisability or any other protected characteristic.

The EOS I supports the Cityof Daytons commitment to equity fairness and equal treatment by assistingwith civil rights enforcement education outreach and policecommunityrelations. The EOS I plays a key role in supporting the Community Appeals Board(CAB) and the Human Relations Council (HRC) Board and provides support acrossthe organization to advance equitable treatment for the community.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelors degree inUrban Studies Urban Affairs Public Policy Urban Planning TransportationPlanning Community Development Public Administration Political ScienceDemographics Econometrics Geography (GIS) Social Anthropology EnvironmentalStudies Social Studies Sociology Social Work Criminal Justice SocialJustice Human Rights or a closely related field;AND2 years of experience in civil or humanrights social justice fair housing equal employment conflict management orworking with immigrants and other minorities;

A Masters Degree in Business Administration Public Administration or one of theabove listed areas may be substituted for one year of the above requiredexperience.

Degree must be from a collegeor university that is accredited by the U.S. Department of Education throughthe North Central Association of Colleges and Schools Higher LearningCommission or equivalent region.

License Requirements

Must possess a valid drivers license at time of appointment and maintain thereafter as a term and condition of continued employment.

Background Check

A background investigation and evidence of Employment Authorization and Identity is required prior to candidates must pass any level of background investigation applicable to the position including current city employees seeking transfer promotion demotion etc. into a classified position.

Medical Examination & Drug and Nicotine Testing

Final appointment is contingent upon the applicant passing a job-related medical examination including drug screen. Applicants offered employment with the City will be required to pass a nicotine screening. Newly hired employees must remain tobacco and nicotine free as a condition of continued employment. The Tobacco and Nicotine Free Hiring Policy does not apply to current City employees.
