The Montana Department of Revenue administers almost 40 state taxes property appraisals liquor laws and unclaimed property for the state of Montana. The Directors Office Division provides support for the Director and department employees relating to tax policy legal human resources training communications taxpayer assistance dispute resolution call center accounting budgeting asset management and facilities and purchasing.

DUTIES
Job Overview:
This position resides in the Directors Office Division of Department of Revenue. Duties include management of the departments accounting and fiscal systems and activities. The Accountant is responsible for revenue collection and distribution; providing professional support for agency operations in compliance with regulations and accounting standards; establishing evaluating and maintaining accounting systems to ensure the accurate and efficient processing of department business transactions and financial reporting activities; and preparing monitoring and analyzing the department approved budgets to ensure agency fiscal requirements are met and comply with executive and legislative intent and applicable statutes and regulations. The position does not supervise other staff.

Knowledge of:
Concepts and theories of governmental accounting and budgeting
Fiscal management with an emphasis on government and fiduciary accounting
Internal department systems
GenTax SABHRS and Internet Budget and Reporting System (IBARS)
Applicable state laws policies and procedures
Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)
Governmental Accounting Standards Board (GASB)
Skills in:
Research and analysis

REMOTE/TELEWORK: This position may be eligible to work from an approved worksite within the state of Montana. This position would be required to report to the Department of Revenue office assigned by the supervisor. Employees must meet and sustain Department of Revenue telework eligibility requirements and supervisors approval to participate in the DOR Telework Program.
Training Assignment:This agency may use a training assignment. Employees in training assignments may be paid below the base pay established by the agency pay rules. Conditions of the training assignment will be stated in writing at the time of hire.
