Job Summary
Seeking an accomplished Executive Underwriter / Team Lead Life Sciences. This role combines technical underwriting expertise with leadership responsibilities overseeing a portfolio of life sciences accounts while mentoring and guiding a team of underwriters. The ideal candidate will bring deep knowledge of life sciences risks and coverages strong broker relationships and proven leadership skills to drive profitability growth and team development.

- $120000 to $190000/year
- Annual bonus target

Job Description
- Underwrite and manage a portfolio of life sciences business including products liability clinical trials errors & omissions and related exposures.
- Lead mentor and develop a team of underwriters fostering technical excellence and professional growth.
- Establish and execute underwriting strategies that align with profitability and growth objectives.
- Maintain and expand strong relationships with brokers clients and industry partners.
- Negotiate terms conditions and pricing on complex and high-value accounts.
- Collaborate with claims actuarial and risk engineering teams to deliver tailored client solutions.
- Monitor industry and regulatory trends to anticipate emerging risks and adapt underwriting approach accordingly.
- Represent the company at industry events client meetings and broker engagements as a market leader in life sciences underwriting.
Requirements
- Bachelors degree required; advanced degree or industry designation (CPCU RPLU ARM etc.) preferred.
- 5 years of underwriting experience with significant expertise in life sciences risks.
- Demonstrated leadership experience with the ability to mentor and guide underwriting staff.
- Strong knowledge of products liability clinical trials and specialized life sciences coverages.
- Established broker and client relationships within the life sciences market.
- Exceptional analytical negotiation and communication skills.
- Strategic mindset with proven ability to balance growth profitability and portfolio management.
