A well-established transportation infrastructure consulting firm is seeking a Senior Transportation Engineer to join its growing roadway design team. This role is ideal for an experienced engineer with a positive collaborative mindset who enjoys leading complex transportation projects and mentoring technical staff.

Position Overview
The Senior Transportation Engineer is responsible for overseeing and completing roadway design and review tasks including horizontal and vertical geometry drainage erosion and sedimentation control (E&S) and plan development/presentation for transportation-focused projects.
This role works closely with roadway designers engineers and CADD technicians and provides technical and project leadership on public agency projects including work for state transportation authorities and toll agencies.
In addition to hands-on engineering this position plays a key role in managing task deliverables supporting leadership initiatives and developing junior engineering staff.
Key Responsibilities
Oversee and coordinate roadway design tasks across multiple transportation projects
Review and finalize roadway plans calculations and quantities prior to submission
Apply and enforce applicable design standards manuals and guidelines
Serve as a technical resource and subject matter expert (SME) for roadway design practices
Provide guidance review comments and mentorship to less-experienced engineers and technicians
Coordinate and delegate tasks to roadway engineers and design staff based on specialty areas
Act as a technical liaison with internal teams prime consultants and external stakeholders
Attend and facilitate complex project meetings; review and finalize meeting documentation
Coordinate with multidisciplinary teams to support overall project delivery
Submit completed task deliverables for final review and submission
Assist with preparation of technical scopes fee proposals and project negotiations as needed
Participate in professional associations industry events and client-facing meetings
Represent the organization in technical discussions with clients contractors and officials
Required Qualifications
Bachelors degree in Engineering
Professional Engineer (PE) license
Minimum of 10 years of transportation / roadway design experience
Preferred Skills & Experience
Strong verbal and written communication skills
Thorough understanding of state DOT roadway design standards and submission processes
Proficiency with Bentley design software including MicroStation InRoads and OpenRoads Designer
Ability to work independently and resolve complex design comments
Proven ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines
Strong planning organization and problem-solving skills
Demonstrated leadership and mentorship capabilities
