In this position...

Ford Racing is seeking an experienced Vehicle Dynamics engineer to join our Vehicle Dynamics team.This position involves leading Vehicle Dynamics development on high-performance on & off-road vehicles using analytical and in-vehicle methods to deliver world-class Ride Steering and Handling performance.

This position is located at the Ford Racing offices in Allen Park MI.



Responsibilities

What youll do...

  • Lead chassis/vehicle dynamics development of future Ford Racing on and off-road vehicles.
  • Work closely with cross-functional team including Vdyn NVH CAE / Simulation and Chassis Architecture to establish pre-program targets that support system selection minimizing trade-offs analytically prior to prototype availability.
  • Support off-road / track testing methods and metric development across all Ford Racing programs.
  • Responsible for delivery of all on and off-road vehicle dynamics attributes including ride steering (EPAS) and handling (inc. ABS ESC and TSC) etc.
  • Use of analytical tools (CAE Simulator etc.) to define tuning libraries that deliver program attribute targets.
  • Manage test plans to support tuning freezes and attribute assessments at all major milestones.
  • Manage off-site testing scheduling objective testing w/ both internal (VEV) and external vendors (Roush Cayman Dynamics Morse Measurement etc)
  • Complete and document all DVP and CDR reqs including handling assessments for loaded unloaded and trailer tow conditions.


Qualifications

Youll have...

  • Bachelors Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related engineering degree or related field of study.
  • 3 years of Vehicle Dynamics development experience as platform/attribute lead.
  • 3 years of performance driving experience inc. limit handling.
  • 3 years of experience in chassis systems Vdyn/NVH CAE or vehicle architecture.
  • 2 experience in data acquisition/analysis (Motec CANalyser etc.).
  • Excellent communication and relationship skills.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with evolving products and needs.
  • Strong work ethic and ability to adapt to requested schedules.
  • Passion for performance vehicles/racing.

Even better you may have...

  • Masters Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related engineering degree.
  • Experience in off-road chassis/shock design and tuning including position sensitive dampers.
  • Knowledge of control system theory related to semi-active suspension systems steering brake controls or powertrain controls (any of these).
  • Extensive personal or professional on/off-road driving experience.

This position is a range of salary grades 5-8 .
