Job Summary

Expected Salary Range: $88594 - $110743 Annually

Target Variable Performance Pay: 8%

The salary range shown above reflects the expected compensation for this position. The final salary offered will be determined based on a holistic assessment of the candidates experience education training and alignment with the roles requirements. For positions covered by a collective agreement placement within the range will follow the applicable step or classification.

Responsible for producing strategic high-quality engaging and persuasive communications that articulate the voice vision and leadership of Toronto Hydro. The incumbent is responsible for crafting speeches thought leadership pieces board-level and external materials social media content and other messaging as applies to enhance Toronto Hydros visibility across internal and external channels. This role is essential in shaping and reinforcing brand messaging ensuring a consistent tone voice and style across all communication channels that reflects the organizations values and strategic priorities. The incumbent demonstrates a creative and sophisticated writing style a strong understanding of communications principles and effectively inspires and captures audience attention and drives engagement.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Collaborates with the executive leadership team to craft persuasive and sophisticated communications across multiple channels including speeches thought leadership content and key messages tailored for diverse audiences
  • Elevates Toronto Hydros visibility through strategic storytelling that communicates business priorities and industry insights
  • Craft engaging narratives that emphasize corporate strategies initiatives and values through clear creative and audience-focused writing
  • Applies editorial best practices to maintain high standards of grammar clarity and tone across all written materials
  • Ensure all communications are consistent with Toronto Hydros brand voice and style guidelines while reflecting organizational values and demonstrating sensitivity to customer needs
  • Contributes to issues and crisis communications planning and response when required

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelors degree in Communications Journalism or a related field
  • Five (5) or more years of progressive experience in corporate communications or public relations
  • Demonstrated experience writing and editing content for senior leaders or executives
  • Demonstrated experience preparing speeches key messages and content for diverse audiences and channels
  • Strong familiarity with traditional and digital storytelling channels including speechwriting social media podcasts and internal communications platforms
  • Highly developed copyediting and writing skills with strong attention to detail. Familiarity with Canadian Press style
  • Ability to gather insights and translate complex technical information into clear compelling stories that resonate with the audience
  • Strong relationship management skills to work collaboratively with leaders internal and external stakeholders
  • Strong issues management skills
  • Strong verbal communication and presentation skills
  • Proven ability to manage competing priorities and work in a fast-paced environment

This position is based in a hybrid environment allowing for remote work two days per week based on business needs. Employees will be required to come onsite Tuesday to Thursday. You are expected to live in Ontario and within reasonable commuting distance of the office.
