Azure Cloud Engineer (Azure Terraform) Onsite Phoenix AZ

We are looking for an experienced Azure Cloud Engineer to design build and implement highly scalable and secure cloud infrastructure solutions. This role focuses on advanced Azure architecture and Terraform engineering - not DevOps - and requires a deep understanding of cloud infrastructure design automation and security best practices.

Position Overview

The ideal candidate is a hands-on Azure expert who can independently build Terraform code from the ground up implement distributed systems and ensure reliability scalability and security across enterprise cloud environments.

Key Responsibilities

• Design build and implement distributed cloud architecture using Azure services such as APIM APIOps Cosmos DB Event Hub and AKS.
• Develop Terraform infrastructure as code (IaC) from scratch including creating reusable modules managing remote states and implementing infrastructure best practices.
• Configure and optimize complex Azure environments with a focus on scalability performance and reliability.
• Implement and monitor cloud security measures-including integration with Azure Defender container and API vulnerability scanning and perimeter protection tools.
• Support the full cloud lifecycle including Cloud Infrastructure Cloud Security Observability CI/CD Secure CI/CD and ProdOps.
• Collaborate with architecture security and development teams to ensure robust secure and compliant cloud operations.
• Apply security architecture principles and implement governance resiliency and compliance best practices.
• Troubleshoot infrastructure issues and optimize cloud performance proactively.
• Produce and maintain clear documentation for all designs configurations and implementations.

Required Qualifications

• 10 years of experience in cloud infrastructure engineering with at least 5 years focused on Microsoft Azure.
• Advanced hands on expertise with Terraform (7 8/10 proficiency or higher) - including authoring new templates writing reusable modules and managing environments via state files.
• Strong understanding of Azure services distributed system architecture and infrastructure design patterns.
• Working knowledge of Linux fundamentals (Windows experience a plus).
• Familiarity with security scanning tools such as Azure Defender Container Scan and API Security frameworks.
• Proven experience implementing secure highly available and resilient cloud platforms at enterprise scale.
• Excellent communication and documentation skills with the ability to articulate technical concepts clearly to non-technical stakeholders.
• Azure certifications (Advanced level) preferred.
