Summary A public school district in Illinois is seeking a Licensed Special Education Teacher (LBS1) to support students with diverse learning behavioral and social-emotional needs. The district is committed to inclusive student-centered instruction that promotes academic growth and personal development. This role focuses on delivering individualized instruction managing IEPs and collaborating with educators families and support staff to ensure students reach their fullest potential. What You’ll Do - Identify student needs and develop implement and manage IEPs in compliance with state and federal guidelines.
- Deliver individualized small-group and whole-group instruction using research-based practices.
- Provide students access to the general education curriculum through appropriate accommodations and modifications.
- Create and maintain a structured positive classroom environment that supports learning and well-being.
- Conduct ongoing assessments of academic behavioral and social-emotional progress.
- Collaborate with general education teachers to modify curriculum and instruction.
- Coordinate and lead IEP meetings including preparation and documentation.
- Communicate regularly and effectively with families staff and administrators.
- Supervise and support paraprofessionals and support staff as assigned.
- Implement and maintain behavior intervention plans and classroom procedures.
- Maintain accurate records and ensure compliance with special education documentation requirements.
- Participate in meetings professional development and school initiatives.
What You’ll Need - Valid Illinois Professional Educator License (PEL) with LBS1 endorsement.
- Knowledge of special education laws IEP development and compliance requirements.
- Experience with differentiated instruction and behavior management strategies.
- Strong communication organization and collaboration skills.
- Competence using instructional technology diagnostic tools and data-driven practices.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and uphold high ethical standards.
- CPI certification or ability to maintain certification as required.
Bonus Skills - Experience working with English Language Learners.
- Background in inclusive and least restrictive environment (LRE) programming.
- Experience supervising paraprofessionals or support staff.
- Strong family engagement and home–school communication skills.
