HiClimb is seeking energetic responsible and motivated Youth Team Assistant Coaches to support our youth climbing programs. This is a hands-on coaching role working directly with young climbers in a positive development-focused non-competitive environment with an optional annual competition opportunity.
About HiClimb
HiClimb opened in Honolulu Hawaii on July 1 2021. Our 14000-square-foot facility features over 8000 square feet of climbing terrain including:
- Bouldering
- Top-rope climbing
- Auto belays
- Lead climbing
We also offer a weightlifting area yoga and fitness classes a café and co-working spaces. HiClimb is a community-focused organization dedicated to connection growth and wellness.

About the Role
Youth Team Assistant Coaches work under the direction of the Youth Team Head Coach and Program Coordinator/Manager to help deliver high-quality instruction and supervision for HiClimbs youth programs:
- Keiki Club (Ages 710)
- Rec Club (Ages 1114)
- Junior Performance (Ages 912)
- Youth Performance (Ages 1218)
Assistant Coaches support daily instruction athlete supervision Risk Management and positive team culture.
Program Schedule
Assistant Coaches may be scheduled for one or more of the following:
Keiki Club
- Thu 3:305:00 PM
- Sat 9:0010:30 AM
Rec Club
- Tue 3:305:00 PM
- Sat 11:00 AM12:30 PM
Junior Performance
Youth Performance
- Mon & Thu 6:308:30 PM
- Sat 2:004:00 PM
Evenings and Saturdays required based on assignment.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist with coaching youth climbers across all program levels
- Provide active supervision and positive encouragement
- Enforce HiClimb Risk Management policies at all times
- Support belay checks harness checks and equipment monitoring
- Assist with group organization warm-ups drills and climbing activities
- Maintain professionalism and positive communication with youth and families
- Support Head Coach with setup cleanup and session flow
Required Qualifications
- Passion for working with youth in a climbing environment
- Prior climbing experience (gym or outdoor)
- Ability to actively supervise multiple youth at once
- Strong communication reliability and teamwork skills
- Willingness to complete SafeSport training and background screening
- Availability for evenings and Saturdays
- Must be HiClimb top rope certified
Preferred Qualifications
- Prior youth coaching teaching or camp counseling experience
- Top-rope belay certification (lead certified a plus)
- First Aid / CPR / AED certification
- Interest in long-term coaching development
- HiClimb lead belay certified
What We Offer
- $18-$19.00 an hour based on experience anticipated 10-20 hours/week)
