The Advanced Manufacturing Engineer will be responsible for designing implementing and optimising advanced manufacturing processes and systems for GE Vernovas power electronics products that are used in its global HVDC projects. As a visible member of the manufacturing team you will be seen as the expert for production processes and systems. Always working to SQDC (Safety Quality Delivery Cost) framework your inputs will help drive annual production improvements.
In this role you will utilize cutting-edge technologies to improve safety production efficiency product quality and overall manufacturing operations. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in engineering principles manufacturing technologies and a passion for innovation. This role ensures that all products meet or exceed customer expectations and comply with regulatory standards.
With an increasing workload safety quality and efficiency in all operations will be a critical to meet our business targets. Using Continues Improvement/ Lean methods you will remove waste and ensure that production downtime is minimised.
The role is a pivotal position in a fast-paced environment that requires both technical expertise a desire to get the job done and clear communication while maintaining strong working relationships with all stake holders (Production Maintenance Quality Procurement and Engineering/NPI).
Job Description
Key Responsibilities:
- Compliance and Safety:
- Ensure all manufacturing processes comply with GE Vernova policy/procedures industry standards and regulations.
- Promote a culture of safety and adherence to environmental guidelines.
- Process Design and Optimization:
- Design and develop advanced manufacturing processes.
- Optimize existing manufacturing processes to improve efficiency and reduce costs.
- Implement lean manufacturing principles and continuous improvement methodologies.
- Technology Integration:
- Evaluate and integrate new manufacturing technologies (e.g. automation robotics IoT).
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to implement advanced manufacturing systems.
- Project Management:
- Lead manufacturing projects from conception to completion.
- Manage project timelines budgets and resources effectively.
- Data Analysis and Reporting:
- Analyse manufacturing data to identify trends and areas for improvement.
- Prepare detailed reports and presentations for management.
- Team Collaboration:
- Work closely with engineering production and quality assurance teams.
- Provide technical support and training to manufacturing staff.
Qualifications:
- Education:
- Bachelors degree in Mechanical Engineering Industrial Engineering Manufacturing Engineering Mechatronics or a related field.
- Desirable: Masters degree
- Experience:
- Considerable experience in manufacturing engineering with a focus on advanced manufacturing technologies.
- Desirable: background in Automotive Electronics Aviation Heavy Machinery
- Proven experience in process optimization and lean manufacturing.
- Skills:
- Strong knowledge of manufacturing component assembly/fastening material handling inspection and automation technologies.
- Proficiency in 2D/3D CAD software (e.g. AutoCAD CREO) and manufacturing simulation tools.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills using large data sets.
- Experience of data capture integration in manufacturing environments with IT networks and digital systems.
- Strong project management and leadership abilities.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
- Desirable: ERP/MRP knowledge (e.g. SAP)
- Certifications:
- Desirable: Six Sigma Green Belt or Black Belt certification
- Desirable: Certification in lean manufacturing
- Desirable: Project management certification
Work Environment:
- The role involves both office-based work and hands-on activities on the production floor.
- Ability to work in a manufacturing environment including standing or walking for extended periods.
- Overtime/weekend working may be necessary to support production
- This position will require standing for extended periods and will involve exposure to the production floor.
- Personal protective equipment (PPE) will be required depending on the work setting.
- Attending meetings and reporting as necessary to support the business.
- May require lifting and carrying materials and equipment.
- Occasional travel might be necessary to support actions.
