Role Description:

The Senior Cost Manager will lead and deliver cost and commercial management services for occupier and retail projects ensuring the highest standards of client satisfaction project delivery and value. This role is integral to Arcadis mission of providing innovative sustainable and commercially robust solutions for our clients in the occupier and retail sectors.

Whether new homes shops workplaces schools and hospitals manufacturing research and development facilities or data and distribution centers. Role accountabilities:

Project Delivery

  • Lead cost management for multiple retail and occupier fit-out refurbishment and development projects (typically 5m40m+).
  • Oversee project lifecycle from inception to completion ensuring projects are delivered on time within budget and to client expectations.
  • Prepare and manage cost plans estimates tender documents contract administration and final accounts.

Client &Stakeholder Engagement

  • Build maintain and grow relationships with occupier clients retail developers landlords consultants and contractors.
  • Understand and deliver on client objectives providing pro-active commercial advice and solutions.
  • Represent Arcadis in meetings with clients stakeholders and external consultants.

Financial & Commercial Control

  • Monitor and report on project costs financial risks and variances.
  • Provide clear accurate cost reporting and advice to clients and internal stakeholders.
  • Advise on procurement strategies value engineering and risk mitigation.

Team Leadership & Development

  • Mentor coach and develop junior cost management staff supporting their professional growth.
  • Promote knowledge sharing best practice and continuous improvement across the team.

Process Improvement & Innovation

  • Review and enhance existing cost management processes drawing on industry best practice and digital tools.
  • Lead initiatives for service improvement and innovation in retail and occupier cost management.

Compliance & Risk

  • Ensure all projects comply with Arcadis policies client requirements and statutory regulations.
  • Identify and escalate project risks and issues to senior management recommending mitigation strategies.

Required Qualifications & Experience

  • Education: Bachelors degree (or equivalent) in Quantity Surveying Construction Management or related discipline.
  • Professional Status: MRICS MAPM or equivalent chartered status.
  • Experience: time served experience in cost management experience with significant exposure to retail and occupier sectors.
  • Proven track record in delivering fit-out refurbishment and new build retail projects.
  • Strong client-facing negotiation and stakeholder management skills.
  • Experience leading project teams and mentoring junior staff.
  • Proficiency in relevant digital tools (e.g. CostX CATO MS Excel Power BI).
  • CSCS card holder.
