Are you accurate hands-on and do you enjoy working in a laboratory environment For our chemical laboratory focused on food we are looking for a motivated Food Chemistry Analyst to join our Pesticides Team at i2Fast.
As a Food Chemistry Analyst within the Pesticides team you will support the delivery of high-quality chemical testing for food products. You will work in a practical laboratory setting preparing and analysing samples with precision while ensuring compliance with quality and accreditation standards.
Your key responsibilities will include:
Sample Preparation: Prepare food samples via homogenisation filtration extraction dilution or other required techniques for laboratory testing.
Analysis: Perform accurate and timely analysis of food and contaminant samples.
Reagents & Standards: Prepare chemical reagents and standards for routine and non-routine analyses including contaminant testing.
Equipment & Instrumentation: Ensure all laboratory equipment and instrumentation are in good working order maintaining up-to-date certifications and records.
Quality Compliance: Be familiar with all aspects of the Quality Manual and comply at all times with policies and procedures in line with UKAS/ISO accreditation standards.
Team Support & Training: Assist less experienced laboratory staff with problems providing advice and on-the-job training when necessary.
Laboratory Maintenance: Maintain general cleanliness and organisation of the laboratory Microbiology Laboratory and common areas ensuring consumables are stocked and waste is disposed of according to Good Laboratory Practice.
Administrative Support: Assist with sample registration tracking and disposal supporting departmental administrative duties.
Audit & Compliance: Ensure all audit and non-conformance actions are completed within required timeframes and escalate to the Team Leader and Quality Manager when necessary.
Communication & Continuous Improvement: Maintain ongoing communication with staff at all levels to identify efficiencies and support management-led improvements.
Health & Safety:
Carry out all laboratory work in accordance with the Quality Manual and Health & Safety Manual
Take responsibility for your own health and safety while working in the Chemistry Laboratory
Report any unsafe practices or incidents to a supervisor or the Quality Manager
Training & Development:
Maintain up-to-date training records
Identify relevant training needs and discuss with a Supervisor; only role-relevant courses will be considered
Deliver training to junior staff under the guidance of the Team Leader and in compliance with the Quality Manual

We are looking for a dedicated and hands-on Food Chemistry Analyst with practical experience in chemical analysis and laboratory operations particularly in GC and LC systems with MS/MS detection. You will thrive in a structured laboratory environment and be committed to accuracy quality and continuous improvement.
Essential:
A-Level or equivalent qualification in a science-based subject
Relevant scientific background or extensive laboratory experience (minimum 2 years)
Hands-on experience with GC and LC systems including DAD FID MS and MS/MS
Strong oral and written communication skills
Desirable:
Degree-level qualification or an appropriate professional qualification in a science-based subject
Experience gained within a food testing or similar regulated laboratory environment
Experience in method development and troubleshooting
You will be a proactive team player who can work independently support colleagues and contribute to the ongoing quality and efficiency of the laboratory.
