Welder (MIG) 1st Shift

Primary Duties & Responsibilities:
- MIG welding on mostly stainless steel in flat horizontal vertical or overhead positions
- Examine weld for bead size and other specifications
- Reading blueprints/drawings
- May manually apply filler rod to supply weld metal
- May clean or degrease weld joint or workpiece using wire brush portable grinder or chemical bath
- May repair broken or cracked parts and fill holes
- May prepare broken parts for welding by grooving or scarfing surfaces
- May chip off excess weld slag and spatter using hand scraper or power chipper
- May preheat workpiece using hand torch or heating furnace
- May position and clamp workpieces together or assemble them in jig or fixture
- May tack assemblies together
- May cut metal plates or structural shapes
- May be designated according to type of equipment used as Welder Carbon Arc; Welder Flux-Cored Arc; Welder Gas-Metal Arc; Welder Gas-Tungsten Arc; Welder Hand Submerged Arc; Welder Plasma Arc; Welder Shielded-Metal Arc.
- May operate other machine shop equipment to prepare components for welding plus basic maintenance
- Important variations include types of metals welded sub-processes used trade name of equipment used work site method of application high-production or custom level of ambidexterity required type of joints welded
- Inspects finished workpiece for conformance to specifications
- May be required to pass employer performance tests or standard tests to meet certification standards of governmental agencies or professional and technical associations
- Fabrication duties when needed
- General cleaning as needed (keep work area safe)
- Loading/unloading trucks as needed
- Assist machinists when needed
- Operate forklifts/cranes when needed

Education Experience Knowledge & Skills:
- High School diploma or GED required
- Requires 4 years of MIG welding experience.
- Must be able to pass a weld test for MIG with stainless steel (on the job experience required)
- Fit & weld beams & troughs
- Perform standard basic machine maintenance
- Ability to use variety of tools and equipment
- Basic math skills and mechanical aptitude
- Ability to read blueprints and recognize welding symbols and specifications
- Knowledge of industry safety practices
- Knowledge of specific welding processes specifically MIG but good to have some TIG and ARC
- Ability to use heavy machinery such as forklifts and cranes
((Welding Test Information: Vertical down MIG test. This test consists of 2 pieces of a ¼ inch stainless steel plate that is 3X6 inches beveled on both inside edges at 22.5 degrees at each joint with a gap of 1/16 to 1/8 and welded in a vertical down position.Short circuit 3G vertical downhill with full penetration. Well be looking at the penetration of the weld.))
Schedule: Monday - Thursday 5:30am to 4:00pm with overtime if/as needed including on Fridays
Pay Range:$23.00/hr - $28.00/hr DOE
Location: Located in Golden near Hwy 58 & McIntyre St
Drug & background screen required (THC Not Tested for Pre-employment)
