KeyResponsibilities

  • Full-time instructor for Secondary Math with courses that may include Grade 6 Math Pre-Algebra Algebra I or Geometry.

  • Design learning experiences that promote conceptual understanding critical thinking problem-solving and mathematical reasoning.

  • Create andmaintaina classroom community that is warm structured and encouraging where students feel safe to take intellectual risks and are also pushed to grow academically.

  • Differentiate instruction to meet diverse learning profiles using varied strategies representations and scaffolds to support student mastery.

  • Build systems that help students develop autonomy organization and ownership of their learning including opportunities for self-assessment and reflection.

  • Integrate real-world applications modeling tasks and cross-disciplinary connections that help students see the relevance and beauty of mathematics.

  • Collaborate with colleagues within the department and across grade levels to support curricular alignment placement decisions and mission-aligned instruction.

  • Build positive relationships with families through cleartimelycommunication that supports student growth and strengthens the schoolhome partnership.

  • Engage fully in the life of the school by advising studentsparticipatingin campus activities and supporting Maclays commitment to whole-child education.

  • Contribute to a vibrant school culture by attending select after-school events that support community connection and student relationships.

  • Performadditionalresponsibilities that support the schools mission and daily functioning as needed.



Qualifications

Qualifications

  • Bachelors degree in Mathematics Math Education or a related fieldrequired; masters degree preferred.

  • Prior experience teaching middle school or early high school math preferred; experience with Algebra I or Pre-Algebra strongly valued.

  • Demonstrated skill in fostering mathematical thinking discourse and problem-solving.

  • Commitment to ongoing professional learning reflection and continuous improvement.

  • Ability to build positive relationships with students while holding them to high academic and personal standards.

  • Agenuine desire to help students see themselves as capable confident math learners.

Physical Requirements and ADA Statement

This role requires regular movement between classrooms and buildings active engagement in classroom instruction and the ability to navigate indoor and outdoor school environments. The position also requires the ability to sit stand walk communicate clearlyoperatestandard classroom technology and occasionally lift materials up to 2030 pounds.
