Description of Work
The Intermediate Construction Inspector/Surveyor position is responsible for ensuring the quality safety and compliance of roadway and structure construction projects. This position serves as an on-site inspector and surveyor providing technical support to engineers in the administration of highway construction projects and ensuring that work is performed in accordance with approved plans specifications and contractual provisions. Duties include monitoring contractors daily operations performing and reviewing materials testing and inspection reports and verifying that construction activities meet required standards and specifications. Additional responsibilities include assisting with project stakeout and surveying tasks monitoring and documenting utility relocation work and ensuring proper alignment and conformance with project requirements.Knowledge Skills and Abilities/Management Preferences

The selected applicant will be expected to safely and legally operate a motor vehicle. Work may include other duties and responsibilities as assigned. Must be able to lift 50 lbs. Must be able to work nights and weekends as required to any assigned project within the Division. Must apply safety philosophy and program to all operations. Safety toe shoes required.
Offer of employment will be contingent upon successful completion of NCDOT post offer employment evaluation.
Minimum Education and Experience

Associates degree in an applicable area of Engineering Technology Survey Technology or a related curriculum from an appropriately accredited institution and two (2) years of progressive technician level experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.EEO Statement
