Description of Job

Job Summary:

This position is responsible for the oversight maintenance and operational readiness of parking equipment departmental mechanical systems and state fleet vehicles for Parking & Transportation Services. The Field Equipment Technician ensures that all field and back-office systems function efficiently through preventive maintenance timely repair accurate documentation and coordination with vendors and campus partners. The position also assists in equipment setup supports operational logistics provides technical guidance and training to field staff and contributes to a positive customer service experience across the Auraria Campus.

Essential Job Functions:Equipment and System Maintenance & Troubleshooting:
  • Oversee the maintenance operation and troubleshooting of parking equipment including lot pay stations single-space meters and back-office systems.
  • Diagnose and resolve hardware software and connectivity issues in collaboration with Auraria Campus IT and system vendors.
  • Maintain current knowledge of all applicable operating systems and coordinate firmware software and hardware updates.
  • Perform component repair and replacement to ensure uninterrupted operation of parking systems.
  • Maintain detailed documentation of maintenance activities system performance and equipment diagnostics.
  • Conduct or support staff training on parking equipment operations software systems and troubleshooting procedures. Maintain position training documentation.
Fleet and Mechanical Systems Oversight:
  • Manage maintenance schedules repairs and inspections for departmental state fleet vehicles.
  • Coordinate vehicle service work orders with on-campus Facilities teams and external vendors.
  • Document all vehicle
  • maintenance and repairs including cost estimates and parts usage.
  • Assist the Assistant Director with setup maintenance and logistics for new and existing mechanical systems and equipment.
  • Ensure compliance with state and campus fleet management and safety requirements.
Vendor and Contract Coordination:
  • Serve as a secondary point of contact under the Assistant Director for vendor services and repairs (Vigilant ChargePoint IPS Group Inc. PCS Mobile etc.).
  • Generate submit and track work orders and purchase requests for equipment maintenance and upgrades.
  • Obtain quotes and estimates for repairs and replacement parts justified by using repair logs data to maintain budget alignment.
  • Track all software/hardware changes and communicate updates to the Assistant Director and Operation Coordinators.
Inventory Management and Documentation:
  • Maintain accurate inventory of field signage equipment parts and maintenance supplies.
  • Prepare and submit daily weekly and monthly maintenance and inventory reports.
  • Record collection transactions equipment repairs and associated costs for budget tracking.
  • Forecast inventory needs to prevent operational interruptions.
Customer Service and Campus Support:
  • Provide professional customer service to the campus community regarding Parking and Transportation Services inquiries.
  • Respond to field service requests equipment issues and customer concerns promptly.
  • Assist with special events parking enforcement and field operations as needed.
Training and Operational Support:
  • Support the Operations Coordinators as a lead worker in the absence of operations staff.
  • Conduct or assist in staff training sessions for equipment repair LPR (License Plate Recognition) systems and backend systems.
  • Participate in preparation for and execution of special events requiring parking support or equipment setup.
  • Perform other duties as assigned to maintain smooth departmental operations.

Minimum Qualifications Substitutions Conditions of Employment & Appeal Rights

Minimum Qualifications:
  • Valid unencumbered Colorado drivers license.
  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • One (1) year of experience with cash handling and financial accountability protocols.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel Word Outlook).
Conditions of Employment:
  • Must maintain a valid unencumbered drivers license.
  • Please note that if offered employment candidates will be required to furnish a copy of the motor vehicle report (MVR)as part of the background check process.
  • Must be able to perform duties in outdoor and mechanical environments.
  • Must be able to frequently lift up to 25 pounds.
  • Must be able to occasionally lift up to 50 pounds.
