A organization is seeking an experienced Senior General Ledger Clerk to support financial operations through accurate general ledger processing reconciliations and reporting. This role focuses on journal entries account analysis and program closeouts rather than high-volume accounts payable.
Prepare and post journal entries; process balance and close computerized general ledger accounts.
Perform account analysis and reconcile bank statements.
Maintain accurate financial records for multiple programs including grant-funded initiatives.
Support monthly and program-level financial close activities.
Prepare required financial and compliance reports for regulatory and oversight agencies.
Ensure adherence to established financial policies and procedures.
Maintain organized financial records files and supporting documentation.
Respond to internal inquiries related to accounting records and financial data.
Receives general supervision from Finance and IT leadership.
Minimum 2 years of experience in Accounting or Finance
OR
4 years of equivalent experience in Accounting or Finance.
Associates degree (AA) or equivalent from a two-year college or technical school
Concentration in Accounting preferred
Accounting & Technical Skills
Strong understanding of general ledger accounting debits and credits
Experience creating and posting journal entries
Ability to perform accurate account reconciliations
Proficiency with computerized accounting systems
Mathematical Skills
Ability to perform arithmetic operations using whole numbers fractions and decimals
Ability to calculate rates ratios and percentages
Ability to interpret basic charts and graphs
Language & Communication Skills
Ability to read understand and write simple correspondence
Effective verbal communication in one-on-one and small group settings
Reasoning & Administrative Skills
Apply common-sense reasoning to follow written and verbal instructions
Learn and apply financial policies and procedures
Maintain accurate records and financial documentation
Type a minimum of 35 words per minute
Work independently with minimal supervision
Establish and maintain effective working relationships across departments
