Under the direction of the Deputy Clerk the Customer Service Representative will deliver a broad range of customer service activities and specialized information to external and internal customers/users of Town services at any one of the Towns Customer Service locations. The position will assist customers in securing services completing bill payment transactions registering for various programs obtaining permits or licences as well as respond to a broad range of inquiries. The Customer Service Representative is the first line of contact with individuals seeking information and/or requiring services in person via telephone e-mail or web interfaces. This position also provides direction and support to part-time and casual staff when necessary.

How you contribute to our organization:

  • Responsible for secure opening and closing of the main doors in the administration building during normal hours of operation.
  • Sorts and distributes incoming mail; processes outgoing mail processes incoming cheques and cash; orders supplies for and fills the postage meter.
  • Maintains awareness of the entire Towns operations procedures and policies to provide exceptional customer service to the public.
  • Provides a broad range of information requiring varying degrees of research and personal contact concerning the Towns services including various municipal programs and products in accordance with customer service protocols regulations procedures and various legislations as applicable. Areas of knowledge include recreation public works by-law enforcement planning and engineering.
  • Assists customers in the completion of various forms and applications relating to municipal services (i.e. burn permits) including requests for licences and/or permits (i.e. dog licences); refer to the appropriate department for additional service as required.
  • Responsible for receiving and accurately processing daily payments for property taxes utilities program registrations facility bookings memberships point of sale transactions and other revenues.
  • Updates the website in a timely manner with respect to public meeting dates times and locations and assists in booking internal meeting rooms when required.

What you bring to the team:

  • Successful completion of Grade 12 High School diploma with a college level certificate in business accounting or customer service.
  • Diploma in Finance or Business/Municipal Administration as well as experience in a municipal environment retail or a call center environment is preferred.
  • 3 year of experience in a Customer Service role within a Call Centre Environment.
  • Experience with Great Plains and Perfect Mind would be considered an asset.
  • Verbal and communication skills required to communicate information to the public in an appropriate manner.
  • Experience handling cash and operating cash registers and point of sale machines to process monetary transactions.



Salary: $52870.60 - $66083.47 plus employer paid benefits and OMERS pension plan
Hours: 35 hours per week 8:30 a.m. 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday
Location: Town Hall 24 Tupper Street West in Alliston
Start Date: February 2 2026
