GENERAL SUMMARY: This position is part of the Quality Engineering Department. Assists the Quality Manager in maintaining the quality management system. Conducts audits and root cause investigations. Implements corrective and continual improvement actions. Interacts with customers and suppliers. Provides assistance in understanding quality standards and gage and measuring device usage. Provides programmable and automated measuring device training as necessary. Provides assistance in conducting gage calibrations gage studies and calibration studies. QUALIFICATIONS: Bachelors in Engineering or Quality Assurance preferred. A minimum of three years quality experience be proficient in but not limited to: Minitab blueprint reading quality practices and inspection techniques data collection devices statistical process control (SPC) gage and measurement device usage and problem-solving reporting. Duties include but are not limited to:Conduct root cause analysis and implement corrective action for process related concerns. Responsible for continual improvement activities to enhance the quality system such as 5S Kaizen lean methods etc. Develop training to build quality awareness. Work with Engineering and Production for new product start-up. Support Quality Inspectors to ensure products and processes comply with relevant requirements. Conduct audits including closing out audit findings creating audit findings reports and determine proper corrective and preventive actions. Analyze failure corrective and preventive action to respond to customer complaints. Manage suppliers performance and conduct audits. Setup and program automated inspection equipment. Maintain and repair gages and measuring devices. Maintain a clean safe and efficient work environment and other assignments as needed. WORKING CONDITIONS: Employee will be exposed to the noise fumes and temperature extremes typically found in a light manufacturing environment. Risk of injury from being in close proximity of operating machinery is possible but unlikely if proper safety precautions are followed. Lifting requirements for this position dictate that the employee must be physically capable of lifting a minimum of 40# on a repetitive basis and a maximum of 70# on an occasional basis. All employees must wear PPE which includes hearing protection and safety glasses both of which are provided by RIMA and slip resistant shoes which the employee provides. RIMA has a prescription safety glass program and safety shoe reimbursement program that is available to employees after 90 days of employment.
