Your Role: As a Junior News Video Editor you will play a key role in supporting our daily video output across news content strands. This role is perfect for an ambitious editor looking to build their skills in a fast-paced newsroom environment. Youll be responsible for editing content that grabs attention drives page views and performs well on platforms like YouTube TikTok and Facebook.
Youll work closely with experienced editors and commissioners to ensure our videos meet high editorial standards while being optimised for digital success. If youre passionate about video social savvy and eager to learn in a collaborative and fast-moving environment this is the role for you.
Day to day you will:
Edit a variety of video content for news including breaking news social cuts and reels.
Tailor videos for various social platforms to maximise plays page views and engagement.
Collaborate with senior editors and commissioners to gain hands-on experience and meet editorial standards.
Implement best practices for SEO and metadata management to ensure videos are discoverable.
Add graphics captions and animations to create visually engaging and compelling content.
Publish video content quickly for breaking news stories with speed and accuracy.
Use analytics and feedback to refine editing techniques and improve performance.
Assist with asset management by organizing raw footage and archiving completed projects.
What were looking for from you:
Proficiency in video editing software for digital news or fast-paced media environments.
Technical understanding of platform-specific requirements for YouTube TikTok and Facebook.
Experience working in a digital newsroom or a similar media setting.
Knowledge of basic journalistic practices and editorial standards.
Ability to work a rolling shift pattern across seven days including days and evenings.
Creative flair for storytelling through video and digital media.
