Profile Description
We are currently looking to build a new team in our Calgary office and are looking for someone to join our Technology team as a Software Engineer with hands-on DevOps experience.
The team owns a range of employee-facing and backend applications used by Firm developers in their day-to-day activities including global software tooling for building testing and distribution as well as solutions for metadata management reporting and the software development lifecycle (SDLC).

What youll do in the role:
-As a Software Developer and DevOps Engineer a successful candidate is going to be responsible for hands-on software development and deployment. The candidate will be part of a wider team with stakeholders located all around the world including Montreal New York London Glasgow Budapest or Hong Kong.
-The candidate will be responsible for maintaining the infrastructure where business critical services & functionalities are hosted and will be expected to cover the entire lifecycle of the software through testing till deployment into production
-The team is embracing Agile and DevOps hence the candidate will be expected to demonstrate continuous improvement and to take ownership of end-to-end delivery quality and business impact of their deliverables. What you will bring to the role
>Strong hand-on experience in Java and/or Python (we have projects running in both of those languages)
>Solid software development background including design patterns object-oriented programming and test-driven development
>Knowledge on Continuous Integration systems (any of Github Actions Jenkins Team City)
>Experience with SDLC Agile BDD and various levels of automated testing
>Containerization background (like Docker Podman)
>Experience with RESTful APIs AG Grid GraphQL and integrating front-end components with backend services.
>Experience of working in Database systems (in both NoSQL and SQL)
>Excellent verbal and written communication skills
You might also have (nice to have):
>Expert knowledge of Linux including familiarity with UNIX system calls
>Experience in configuring and deploying private IaaS/PaaS/Container technologies
>Strong hands-on experience in JavaScript/TypeScript HTML5 CSS3 SCSS and Responsive Design writing cross-browser compatible code.
>Experience in working on Cloud native architecture

Expected base pay rates for the role will be between $150000 and $210000 per year at the commencement of employment. However base pay if hired will be determined on an individualized basis and is only part of the total compensation package which depending on the position may also include commission earnings incentive compensation discretionary bonuses other short and long-term incentive packages and other Morgan Stanley sponsored benefit programs.
