ESSENTIAL DUTIES FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Abstracts data from the electronic medical records and other sources using predetermined criteria for clinical management and performance improvement activities to comply with the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) requirements.
- Utilizes programs provided by CMS and/or external reporting entities to abstract data and transmit mandatory reports to be in healthcare compliance.
- Analyzes health care data obtained from a variety of sources including patient clinical trials financial and demographic data.
- Reviews patient records based on specific criteria to identify deficiencies and initiates appropriate action for improvement. Uses and supports database applications and analytical tools.
- Compiles data according to established criteria and ensures the validity reliability and accuracy of the collected data. Presents statistical data in an effective manner utilizing graphic displays as appropriate. Provides support with delivering data products in reports and assists with the presentation format to specifications and timelines. Develops and maintains a clinical data base.
- Conducts occurrence screening of critical indicators. Refers variations to clinical staff reviewers for further in-depth review and assists in documenting results.
- Communicates data analysis and other information to management for the purpose of evaluation of opportunities to improve patient care.
- Participates in interdepartmental Quality Assessment and Performance Improvement activities to assist in quality resolution of issues and program integration. Provides education to FDIHB staff related to applicable laws and regulations.
- Assists in the maintenance and organization of the Quality Services Department documentation and meeting minutes for review by CMS.
- Assists in the maintenance of the policy management system.
- Participation in the quality improvement process and contributes to problem solving and improved work processes.
- Position is required to demonstrate customer skills including friendliness courtesy responsiveness and empathy.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
MANDATORY MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Experience: Two (2) years of direct work experience.
Education: Associate Degree in Healthcare Health Technician or related field. Statistics needed.
