Job Summary

The Department of Neurology at the Perelman School of Medicine at the University of Pennsylvania seeks candidates for an Associate Professor position in the non-tenure clinician educator track. Expertise is required in the specific area of evaluation and management of Parkinsons disease related disorders and other movement disorders. Expertise in botulinum toxin injection and management of neurostimulators is preferred. Applicants must have an M.D. or equivalent degree and be board-certified or board-eligible in Neurology. Completion of a fellowship in Movement Disorders is also required.

The successful candidate would be active in national/international organizations like the American Academy of Neurology (AAN) and the Movement Disorders Society (MDS). They would also be active in clinical trials at the organizational as well as the site level. They would mentor and drive academic productivity among fellows and residents.

Teaching responsibilities may include the teaching of medical students residents and fellows as well as formal lecture opportunities within the department.

Clinical responsibilities may include outpatient consultations and ongoing care of patients with Movement Disorders. Supervision of resident clinic and a minor component of inpatient care of general neurology patients (approximately 1-2 weeks per year) may be required. Clinical care will be primarily at Pennsylvania Hospital but some coverage of satellite clinics in suburban locations may be available.

Research or scholarship responsibilities may include an independent research program (e.g. K-series award leading to further independent funding) or an active collaborative role in integrated research programs. Scholarly productivity in peer-reviewed journals is expected.
