Experience Requirement: Minimum of 2 years post-cardiology residency or relevant clinical experience
ROLE OVERVIEW
The Cardiologist will be responsible for diagnosing managing and treating patients with cardiovascular diseases. This includes performing clinical evaluations interpreting diagnostic tests providing medical interventions and collaborating with multidisciplinary teams to optimize patient outcomes. The role also involves patient education preventive cardiology and contribution to continuous quality improvement within the hospital.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Clinical & Diagnostic Care
Evaluate diagnose and manage patients with cardiovascular conditions including heart failure arrhythmias ischemic heart disease and hypertension.
Interpret and perform diagnostic tests such as ECG echocardiography stress tests and cardiac catheterizations.
Develop individualized treatment plans including pharmacologic therapy interventional procedures and lifestyle interventions.
Provide perioperative cardiovascular assessment for patients undergoing surgery.
Collaboration & Quality Improvement
Work closely with other physicians surgeons nurses and allied health professionals to deliver coordinated care.
Participate in morbidity and mortality reviews clinical audits and continuous quality improvement initiatives.
Contribute to patient education and preventive cardiology programs.
Support research teaching and professional development initiatives within the hospital.
Day-to-Day Activities
Conduct outpatient consultations inpatient rounds and emergency interventions.
Review and interpret cardiac imaging and laboratory results.
Document patient care accurately and in compliance with hospital standards.
Attend multidisciplinary case discussions ward rounds and clinical meetings.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE
Education & Certification
MBBS or equivalent medical degree (mandatory).
Fellowship or residency in Cardiology.
Full registration with the Medical and Dental Council of Nigeria (MDCN).
Valid practicing license.
